Just a little lie in this morning as we had
to get today’s ‘ Roast ‘ on the go, after a quick freshen up we had our toast
& tea to set us up for the day ahead.
We are having a joint of ‘ Roast Shoulder
of Pork ‘ – with the fat on – for ‘ Crackling’
See the picture below of the joint of ‘Shoulder
of Pork ‘ in the ‘English Butchers’ I
had a smaller joint cut off! ( Honest)
I coated it in Lemon Juice & Sea Salt
before placing it on a bed of ‘ Trivets’ – to go into a hot oven, the ‘
Vegetable Chef’ then prepared ‘ Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a Cheese
sauce, Crushed Baby Carrots & Turnips, Cabbage with Acelgas & Garden
Peas’ - for a change Brenda par-boiled ‘Baby Potatoes’ in their Skins, I then
tossed them in hot ‘Goose-Fat’- to roast in the oven this evening, I made my
famous ‘ Mixed Herb Stuffing’ and then from the roasting tray I made my equally famous ‘ Finger-Licking’ – “
Deep-Pan-Gravy “ All served with a ‘Bramley Apple’ sauce.
As usual while I’m typing/posting the Blog
I listen to the ‘ Pete Black Retro Roadshow ‘ on “ Castle Radio FM 89.2 &
Online on the WWW” – the ‘ Movie Quiz’ came on, I entered ‘Lady ‘ Brenda’s name
into the Quiz, this week it was “ The Dam Busters “ from 1955 with Michael
Redgrave & Richard Todd! She’s in
the monthly draw for the ‘ Mug’ – watch this space.
This morning we have yet another cold,
cloudy, overcast & grey sunny Manilva, there is light breeze blowing up
from the Mediterranean, by lunchtime it will only reach 15 degs, the sun has
just broken through, next week is now looking the same, with more sunshine at
times, patchy clouds and still with the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air,
hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ – down to
11/12 degs during the night, by next weekend going a little warmer, up to 21
degs+! Watch this space.
Just a quick update on the football
results; Manchester City won 1-4 & Barcelona won 1-0 as Messi scored a
penalty & missed one!
Yesterday evening after supper we first
watched the new ‘Icelandic’ thriller “ Trapped “ with sub-titles - all very
cold & grey, with two murders so far! We then found an excellent and riveting
documentary “ Williams: The story of Formula One’s Greatest Family “ – about it’s
founder Frank Williams and the history of the Team, the interviews with all the
people involved, past & present were gripping, the story of his near-fatal
car accident that left him a ‘ Tetraplegic’ back in 1986, to this day, was very
moving, as well his ‘ Family’ history – two sons overlooked, but his daughter
Claire Williams now the ‘ Team Principle ‘!
This evening on ‘ BBC 1 ‘ we will be
watching the first episode of “ Baptiste “ – the spin-off from ‘ The Missing’ -
with the French Detective, played by Tcheky Karyo, now living in Amsterdam, as
usual, over on ‘ Channel 4’ another new series starts, at the same time ‘
Traitors ‘ !!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
