I was up very early this morning and after
a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas before the sun
rose over the still dark Mediterranean, I was first into our Bank and spoke to
the Assistant Manager, Roberto, that looks after our account, phone calls/documents
etc are needed to sort out a little business, I then did the main shop in a
very quiet ‘ Mercadona’ – I collected the local newspapers from the ‘English’
Bookshop’ as well as the ‘Movie Quiz Mug’ – thanks ‘Pete Black’!
I then carried on down to the ‘Puerto de la
Duquesa Marina’ to go to the ‘English Butchers’ – I bought a nice joint of ‘
Shoulder of Pork ‘ with the fat on, for ‘ Crackling’ – for our ‘ Sunday Roast’
- as well as various essentials/goodies.
I came back along to the far end of the promenade in Sabinillas to the local market
for the fresh flowers & wall plants, finally I stopped at ‘ Super Sol’ for
all our ‘English essentials.
It was then time to shoot back up through
the bare ‘Vine Fields’ and around the 4 hairpin bends, to unload back at the
house, after putting the car away in the underground car park I had my famous ‘
Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce – with a my ‘Movie
Mug’ of strong/hot ‘PG’ Tips Tea, Brenda
had her toast & tea while I was out shopping, she had taken little ‘ Winnie’
out for her first walks of the day, all around the bottom of the village, she’s
settled in very well, she slept all night in her basket/cage, with the cover
over it, she has found her ‘ Spots’ and is eating all her food and goodies, at
the moment she’s sat at my feet as I’m typing/posting today’s Blog! She is due
to be collected later this afternoon.
This morning it’s still grey &
overcast, with black/dark clouds, there is a ‘ stiff’ ‘Lavente’ cold wind blowing keeping it very ‘ Crisp’ –
the threat of the ‘ wet-stuff’ is in the air, it’s due to reach only 14 degs by
this afternoon, over the weekend we are in for more of the same, next week is
going cooler as the wind gets up, bringing with it another ‘Atlantic’ cold
front, hovering in the low/mid ‘ teens’ – with just the chance of sunshine,
mainly patchy clouds and at times lots of ‘RAIN’ – Watch this space.
PS; As Brenda is still not feeling on top form, also, Sandra & Bill have sent her some ' Virtual Flowers ' from Everett, Ontario, Canada ! " Thanks "
On the menu front we have agreed the
weekends ‘ Gourmet ‘ Festival’ – as our appetites have returned – this evening
it’s going to be shallow-fried ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet ‘ – using local ‘Breadcrumbs’
from the Bakery, served with a Homemade ‘Tartar’ sauce and lots of Lemon
Wedges, Mushy Green Peas and twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ – on Saturday it will be a
large ‘Grilled Rib of Beef ‘ on the bone, with all the trimmings, then on
Sunday our ‘ Roast’ is the ‘ Shoulder of Pork’ – with lots of ‘ Crackling’-
deep-pan Gravy, a selection of local Vegetables and of course ‘Goose Fat Roast
Potatoes’!
On the ‘Councils’ Web-Page this morning
they have just confirmed that contact has been awarded for the re-development
of ‘ Calle Iglesia’ –all new underground
services, new paving & road, seating etc, like ‘ Calle Mar’ as well the
latest ‘Led’ lighting. They are also installing, around the whole village, a 16
video camera/traffic control system, to improve security, after the terrorist
arrest, in the heart of the village, in the past month, they have announced
also the details of the programme of events for celebrations on February 28th
for “ Andalusia Day “ – this year all
taking place down in the ‘ Pabellon- Multi Purpose Hall ‘ down by the sports
ground, due to the weather forecast. See below.
We will be watching all the ‘ Quiz Shows’
that we follow later, then this evening we will, as usual, channel hop to catch
the various programmes that we follow on a Friday, last night we caught the
second part of ‘Death in Paradise’ – the lady Detective survived but her fiancĂ©e
was killed!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
