A VERY WARM AND CLOSE & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 28th/ AUGUST 2018.

A little lie in this morning after another very hot & sticky night, with not a lot of sleep, after freshening up we had our usual light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, we are having at home day catching up with all the chores around the house, after a rather unexpected late night, last night.

We went out for our late walk, as usual, to take in the cooler night air & sit and watch the ‘World’ go by, here in sleepy Manilva!  Sat outside ‘ Cafeteria Nacho’ ( Juan’s brother, from ‘ Bar Castillo’) - were Mick & Lllona, with their two young children, Lllona and the children have been here for nearly 8 weeks, at their house at the top of the village, but Mick has been back in Dublin, with his work commitments, he’s here for the last week, as the children are going back to school in Dublin next week.

He insisted that we join them for a nice cool drink, so we sat with them as the children played along the ‘ Traffic-Free’ ‘ Calle Mar ‘ ! We had a good catch up, gossip and soon put the ‘World’ and sunny Manilva to rights! It turned out to be a ‘Helluva’ night as we were the last to leave the Bar & ‘Calle Mar’ - getting home just before 2-00 am!! As we were talking I told Mick about some ‘technical’ problems around the house, so this morning he called in and fixed them all- thanks!

This morning the sky has cleared and the sun has broken through after yesterdays rather overcast start, it’s still very close & clammy, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 30 degs+ overnight 21 degs, on one of the forecasts it’s still showing patchy clouds and rain at times, yesterday there was very light rain at the top of the village but here we had none!  Over the next few days and the weekend it’s now looking warm & sunny, hovering in the low 30s, more like it for the time of the year, let the ‘Vendemia Wine Festival’ begin! Next week we are in for more of the same. Watch this space.

See below the new ‘ Calle Mar’ looking down from the start of the street from outside ‘Cafe Plaza’ very early this morning.

We have just been talking to our next door neighbour, Anna’s, nephew, Javier, his mum, Encarni, was born in our house, we have known him for quite a few years, he’s grown into a 6 ft 8 in young man and has just won a ‘Sports Scholarship’ to go and play Basketball in San Diego, California, at the ‘Simpson University ‘ for the “ Red Hawks “ !!

On this morning’s ‘ Breakfast Show’ on Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ which we listen to as we are getting ready, the new weeks ‘Music Quiz’ track came on, Brenda got it straight away and said ‘ I’m Confessin( That I Love You) by Frank Ifield – I thought that she was taking to me!!  Anyway, it was correct and Andrew Charles the presenter gave ‘Lady ‘ Brenda a mention, as the first to get the correct answer!!

Today’s Stage 4 of the ‘La Vuelta 2018’ is the last in the province of Malaga, as it leaves Velez-Malaga to end in Alfacar – Sierra de la Alfaguara after 161 kms, with two stiff climbs to the finish.

For our supper this evening we are again keeping things very simple; we are having ‘Cold Smoked Ham’ – topped with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs and of course some twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ Tomorrow is still TBC, then on Thursday we are out for our supper, now on Friday we are at home, for our ‘Fish Night’ as the arrangements for the ‘ Vendemia Wine Festival’ have been updated, it’s now a ‘Flamenco Festival ‘ down at the School, then on Saturday evening it’s the religious parade etc, before all the music kicks off on the two stages, so I’m now going to make a large pan of my famous “ Chicken & Mushroom Curry “ to keep us going over the celebration weekend, watch this space.

Earlier this evening, before supper, we have a couple coming to see us with their dog, Lucy, a Jack Russell, as a possible new guest here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘-  little princess ‘Reina’ is back with us on Thursday just for the day, then next week on Monday/Tuesday for a sleep-over, just as little ‘Percy’ is joining us for his three-week holiday!

Last night after supper, before we went out for our walk, we watched the second, very exciting and extremely violent episode of the  “ Bodyguard “ as a very scary and believable terror attack unfolded at the Bodyguards children’s School, as a lorry, driven by a terrorist, was stopped, just before the gates, but then blew up! Then in a very unexpected and bloody sequence, the Home Secretary’s car was shot up by a sniper, bullets piercing the windows, but not the amour-plated car, the ‘Bodyguard’ then saved the day and found the sniper coming down from the roof, it was an solider that he has served with in the SAS in the war in Afghanistan, who was resentful about politicians, especially the Home Secretary! He then took his gun and shot himself in the head. There are also ‘ dirty going on’s’ behind the scenes with the senior police and MI5! After all this the Home Secretary told the Bodyguard ‘ I’m not the Queen, you can touch me, he then did, twice!!

Thoughts for the Day; See below.
