I was up very early this morning and after
a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly
shopping. After a toast & tea in ‘ ItZabar’ I did our main shop in a very
busy ‘ Mercadona’- I collected the local newspapers from the ‘English’ Bookshop
and then shot along to the far end of the promenade to the local market for our
fresh flowers & wall plants, as I came back up the hill the ‘ Moscatel’
grapes were being picked from the old ground vines.
Along the new ‘ Calle Mar ‘ the ‘ Council’
workmen are out in force, re-laying the flagging along the terrace, above the
bottom of the street, putting up more of the coloured triangular canopy and the
white awnings above the four main Bars.
They have just started to fix small waste bins in various spots along the street, I spoke to the Mayor, Mario, as he was checking on the progress, and he confirmed that everything will be ready in time for the ‘ Vendemia Wine Festival’- over the first weekend of September, with no traffic being allowed along the street until after the Festival, then there is a weight restriction & no parking allowed ?! Not what we all agreed too when the original plans were discussed, back in 2016, the ‘Car’ lobby have won!! Watch this space.

This morning has started a little overcast
but the clouds are now clearing and the sun is breaking though, there is hardly
any breeze and so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 31 degs+ - over the weekend it’s
staying the same, with a light breeze making it a little cooler, next week on
all the forecasts the ‘ wet-stuff’ has now disappeared, but it’s still going be
cloudy at times, hovering in the low 30s, overnight in the low 20s, watch this
space.
Last night we had a nice ‘Tapas’ supper sat outside ‘ Bar Castillo ‘ on a rather quiet evening, with not many tourists around, Juan is going away on holiday, after the ‘ Vendemia Wine Festival’ This evening we are going to have “ Fillets of Haddock in a ‘Cruzcampo Beer’ Batter “ – with Mushy Green Peas and of course twice-cooked ‘ Chips’ – with lots of Lemon wedges and homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce on the side, on Saturday evening it’s going to be a large ‘ Rib of Beef – on the Bone’ with all the trimmings and then on Sunday pan-seared ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet.
On the memory front this week I have posted
some picture above of the “ Liverpool Overhead Railway “ ( the Docker’s
Umbrella) – opened in 1893 & closed in 1956, as a child I was taken on it
into Liverpool, from the Seaforth Docks, it was the first electric elevated
railway, the first to use automatic, electric, colour signalling and was home
to one of the first passenger escalators at a railway station, not a lot of
people know that, they do now!
For the rest of the day and this evening we
are taking things easy, relaxing, doing nothing, because we can, keeping as
cool as possible, drinking lots of cold water, with all the fans on, later we
will channel hop to find something to watch.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
