We managed a little in this morning after
we all had a ‘ Big-Night’ out! ( more later!) Brenda took ‘ Lex Baby’ for her
first walk of the day down to the ‘ Mirador’- the ‘Council’ Cleansing Department
had been out early and everywhere had been cleaned and washed down, all the
temporary bars have been taken down, for now, as the next Festival is the “
Vendimia Wine Festival “ –over the first weekend in September! The four stages
will be dismantled and stored away until the next time.
We had our regular light breakfast of ‘
Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, to start the day off. ‘Lex’ was then
collected by Amie, after her week’s holiday, we are doggy-free until tomorrow
evening when ‘Maisie’- the Portuguese water Dog, is due to arrive for her week’s
holiday here with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – we are waiting to hear when
little princess ‘ Reina’ is back with us, next week, we suspect that ‘Chisps’
will be going off with her family to the ‘Campo’ for her summer holidays, watch
this space.
NB; When
you have the chance please check out yesterdays ‘Blog’ as I have just posted
some pictures of the all the four stages set up etc, for the ‘Noche Del Embrujo’
- yesterday afternoon.
Yesterday evening we went along to ‘Bar
Castillo’ quite early, after our walk with the dog, as Juan has reserved our
regular table, I stayed there with ‘Lex’ as Brenda went home to change, when
she returned I popped home to freshen-up and change, we then all settled down
to ‘ Party’ the night away, we had our regular cold drinks, served in glasses,
during the evening we had a light Tapas supper of ‘ Carne Mechada & Pincho’s
of Prawns & Chicken, more drinks came along!
The opening act on the stage at the top of
our street, opposite ‘Bar Rojas’ was ‘ Alba’ – the daughter of a neighbour, who
we have known since she was 5, then on the main stage, at the top of ‘Calle Mar’-
in front of a very excited village, was the Flamenco singer ‘ Amanda’ – next on
the stage in front of ‘ Bar Castillo’ it was time for the crowd to go mad as ‘Erre
que Erre’ performed, by then it was already mid-night, to follow on the stage
by the Town Hall is was time for more Flamenco with Maeva & Davina’ –
finally on the large stage in the ‘ Plaza de la Vendimia’ it was the Rock Band
concert, going on until after 3.00am! We stayed until the rock concert
started!!
See above a small selection of pictures
taken during the evening.
This morning has started very close & clammy
again, the sun has broken through and by lunchtime it’s due to reach 31 degs+ -
next week is going to get hotter, into the mid 30s at times, with patchy clouds,
there will be just a slight breeze, inland all over Spain is still on ‘ Red
Alert’ Watch this space.
Yesterday morning we had a nice
catch-up/chat with Tim & Thea, over in Old Colwyn, North Wales, on the ‘Skype’
video, their daughter Jo and her friend are on the next stage of their adventures
over in South America, rain forest pictures still to arrive, from La Paz in
Bolivia, they are now in Peru and are going to visit the ‘Machu Picchu’ Incan
citadel in the high Andes! Their son Ben has just returned from ‘back-packing’
in Thailand, taking in Bangkok & Phuket, with five mates! ( no details!)
Ben is moving to Manchester to work, later this month, Tim & Thea had been
down to see their new granddaughter in London, they have now booked to return
to Mojacar in the middle of September.
We are taking things easy for the rest of
the day, keeping as cool as possible, with all the fans on, drinking lots of
cold water, we had a nice ‘Facebook’ messenger from Sandra & Bill, over in
a still very hot Everett ,Ontario, Canada, with all their news, their visit in October is
getting nearer all the time, this weekend they are going way again with the new
trailer, that is if it’s been fixed after a bad leak, to ‘Grand Bend’ as its’ a
‘ Civic’ holiday over there. We have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video call with them
next weekend.
For our supper this evening we are having a
large ‘Rib of Beef’ – on the bone – grilled on a very hot griddle plate ‘
Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, taken off
the bone and carved into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with the seared
Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, with whole ‘ French’ Green Beans &
twice-cooked ‘ Chips’
We will then settle down to find something
to watch as we will be suffering from ‘ Poldark’ withdrawal symptoms!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
