" Brenda will be allowed on 'Bombay Sapphire' Gin & Tonic this evening !
I was up early this morning and after a
quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly
shopping, after my usual toast & tea in ‘ itZabar’ I did our main shop in ‘
Mercadona, before picking up the local newspapers from the ‘ English Bookshop’
as well as a Birthday Card (?!) - back at the house Brenda took ‘ Paddy ‘ for
his first walk of the day, around the bottom of the village, he slept all night
on our bed, he didn’t move once, he’s settled in very well and is into our
routine, he loves being out & about and spends a lot of the time on our
knees, for cuddles!
Sadly at the moment it’s still overcast
& cloudy, there is no breeze so the sun is struggling to break through, by
lunchtime, hopefully, it’s due to reach 22/23 degs+ . tomorrow is the same and
then next week is now looking settled, warm & sunny, with light clouds at
times, getting warmer by next weekend, when it will be hovering on the 29/30
degs+ mark, on some of the forecasts it’s now showing some of the ‘wet-stuff ’ie:
‘Patch Rain ‘ – unbelievable for the
time of the year?! Watch this space.
After un-loading back at the house I put
the car away in the underground car-park, we then had a quick toast & tea
before sorting ourselves out for the weekend and next week, we are having an ‘
at home weekend’ – taking things easy, next week we have only one appointment,
so far, on Tuesday evening, down at the local Surgery, with the ‘Council
Chiropodist’ – in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ of course ‘ Paddy’ is with us, we are
waiting to hear when little princess ‘ Reina’ is back.
At the moment on the TV we are watching the
‘ Queen’s Birthday Parade’ from Horse Guards Parade – the “ Trooping of the
Colour “ – on the Queen’s 92nd Birthday.
We have been out to see the ‘ Romeria’
parade come up from the Church, it turned left at the top of ‘Calle Iglesia’-
taking a short cut, not using the new street this year, so I only just caught
the larger than normal parade, it was led by the local horseback riders, and
then for the first time, a small ‘ Tronos’ carried by the ladies of the
village, see above the pictures that I just managed to catch!
On the sports front this weekend; this
afternoon we will be watching the Ladies Final of the ‘ French Open Tennis’
from Paris, later the next Stage of the “ Criterium Du Dauphine’ cycle race, a
warm up bicycle race for the ‘Tour De France’ later in the month, meanwhile
over in Canada, it’s the qualifying for the ‘ Grand Prix’ – then next week we
have the start of the 2018 ‘World Cup ‘- taking place in Russia.
This evening for our supper we are having a
large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef ‘ on the bone, seared on a very hot griddle-plate ‘
Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before taking it off the bone and carving it
into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Button Mushrooms, Asparagus
Spears & Shallots served with whole ‘ French’ Green Beans, accompanied with
Dijon Mustard & ‘Bearnaise’ sauce and the classic, twice-cooked, ‘ Pont
Neuf ’ doorstep Chips! – as served at the now closed ‘ Chez Clovis’ near Paris’s
‘ Pont Neuf’ ( New Bridge) – in fact the city’s oldest one- known as the ‘
Grandaddy ‘ of French Fries!
On Sunday, for the last time for a little while we are having a ‘Roast Loin of Pork’ with all the trimmings.
On Sunday, for the last time for a little while we are having a ‘Roast Loin of Pork’ with all the trimmings.
Last night after supper we watched the next
exciting episode of the ‘Swedish/Danish’ crime drama “ The Bridge “ as the lead
Lady Detective ‘ Saga’ had a surprise abortion, with more heartbreak and horror,
all around her, a rollercoaster of an instalment. The ‘ Cabbie’ raped his
ex-wife and was then accidently shot dead by his son, a horse was gassed to
death, the wheelchair-user is connected to one of the suspects, his mum likes
the finer things in life, the strange village community where some of the
people involved are hiding, is starting to be investigated, all the four murders,
so far, have been filmed, so we have still to come, death by firing squad,
hanging and decapitation!
At the end Henrick, ‘Saga’s detective partner
and the father of the child she has just aborted, after an all-nighter in the
records room announced its “Tommy “ – just one question, Who’s Tommy?! Watch this space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
