A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 20th / MAY 2018.

We managed a nice lie in this morning as we have a ‘ doggy-free’ weekend here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ – after freshening up we had our normal light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea. We are having a nice relaxing ‘ at home day’ today basically doing nothing, because we can!

Meanwhile over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, yesterday morning, Sandra & Bill where up early to watch this Royal Wedding and treated themselves to a ‘ Royal’ breakfast of ‘ Buck Fizz’ and  ‘ Eggs Benedict ‘ as you can see below.

The folks are busy at the moment with work, they are looking forward to a mini-vacation in their new trailer at the start of June, they are also booking their flight to Madrid, next week, for their stay with us down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in sunny Manilva at the end of October, watch this space.

This morning, at the moment, it’s calm, warm & sunny, but the threat of the ‘wet stuff’ is still in the air, as all over Spain is being hit by rain storms, but the weather is still warm! By lunchtime, weather permitting, it’s due to reach 21/22 degs+  - the clouds have cleared and the sky is blue, there is a light breeze, keeping it rather pleasant, normal for the time of the year, except for the rain! Next week is still looking settled with clear skies and light breezes, as the temperature is due to rise to 24/25 degs+ at times, but still with the possibility of the storms crossing over the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘  Watch this space.

Yesterday we had a  TV’ day as we first watched the Royal Wedding – a ‘ Helluva’ day over in a very sunny Windsor as the ‘Monarchy’ & the ‘ British Establishment & Church’ were ‘ hijacked ‘ by an American Bishop, quoting Martin Luther King, from his ‘Tablet’ – with ‘ Fire & Brimstone, a swaying ‘British Black Gospel’ choir sang a beautiful version of ‘ Stand By Me ‘ as a young  19 years old Black Cellist played ‘ Ave Maria’ – a truly multicultural embrace as ‘ Hollywood’ royalty hit town!

Congratulations to the new Duck & Duchess of Sussex.

We then watched the ‘ Giro d’Italia’ Stage 14 as Chris Froome held off fellow Britain Simon Yates, in the race leaders Pink Jersey, to win his first ever stage of the tour, up the hardest climb in European cycling, a thriller on Monte Zoncolan’ – in front of thousands of people – as his team-mate helped him up the climb to 4 kms below the summit, before he attacked, Froome back to his best, today’s stage is over 176 kms in the ‘Dolomites’ with lots of climbs and descents before the finish, Monday is a ‘ rest day’ before Tuesday’s Time Trial.

It was then time to watch the ‘ FA Cup Final’ from Wembley as Chelsea won 1-0 with a penalty in the first half, and then defended with nine men, Mr ‘Mourinho’ was not a happy bunny!

Later after supper we settled down to watch a good film “ The Martian “ ( 2015) – a science fiction drama, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon.

At lunchtime we went out along the new ' Calle Mar' and ended sat outside ' Bar Ocana ' for a nice cool drink and a Tapas of their 'House'  'Pollo au Curry - Chicken Curry'  taking in the sights & sounds of a very sunny Manilva, the street is looking more finished as each day goes by, we now need the lamp posts and flower/plant displays, installing, watch this space.

This evening for our supper I will be making, to order, my now famous ‘ Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto ‘ – my version/recipe using a Spanish ‘Arborio’ Rice, sweated-off with finely diced Onions & shallots, with a good glass of Brenda’s best White Wine and a small dash of ‘ Lea & Perrins’ and Tabasco, then slowly stirring in a rich Chicken & Vegetable stock, as it nears being cooked I add the diced & cubed Smoked Chicken and Juices, as well as the French Green Beans, Haricot Beans & Broad Beans, before adjusting the seasoning and adding a dash of Cream, Parmesan and chopped Parsley, then garnished with Asparagus spears!
