A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 25th/ MAY 2018.

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen-up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas for our weekly shopping, I had a quick toast & tea in ‘ itZabar’ before going into ‘ Mercadona’ for the main shop, I then collected the local newspapers from the ‘ English Bookshop’ before going along to the far end of the promenade to the local market for the fresh flowers & wall plants, on the way back up the hill I called into ‘Super Sol’ for the ‘ English’ essentials, including a fine ‘Red Wine’ for Brenda ( the new Regime !) -  their selection is far superior to ‘ Mercadona!  After un-loading back at the house I put the car away in the underground Council car park.

We have a glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun was out early and the sky has cleared, there is a light breeze making it very pleasant to be out & about, the best time of the year before it gets too hot, 23/24 degs+ by this afternoon, overnight 15/16 degs, over the weekend and into next week we are in for more of the same, as the week goes on it’s due to get a lot warmer hovering on the 26/27 degs+ mark! Here in Spain it’s a normal weekend, over in the UK it’s the ‘Spring Bank Holiday’

Yesterday evening we had a nice ‘ Facebook ‘ message from Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, the good news is that Sandra has been given the all clear from her Specialist, they have booked their flights, over the weekend of the 13th October, and are arriving in Barcelona, this time, staying for a day & night before catching the high-speed train down to Malaga, were they will pick up the hire car and come down here to their apartment in Sabinillas on the Sunday! It means that Sandra will be here for her birthday on the 26th October before they return the same way!

We can’t wait to meet up with them again and are getting rather excited already!!  We have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video call on Sunday for a catch-up as they are going away in their new trailer for a short break at the start of June. They are also looking forward to meeting up with ‘Jeff & Annette’ from Brisbane, Australia on the way to see their daughter in Alberta, in Toronto, for the first time, at the start of the month. Watch this space.

This evening for our supper we are having deep-fried ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet’ in a ‘ Cruzcampo’ Beer Batter, with Homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce on the side with lots of Lemon wedges, served with ‘ Mushy Green Peas ‘ & twice-cooked ‘Frits’

On Saturday it’s ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steaks’ with all the trimmings including deep-fried Onion Rings! For our ‘Sunday Special’ we are having ‘ Grilled Lamb Steaks’ marinated in Sea Salt, Black Peppercorns, Rosemary & Olive Oil, resting on a bed of ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes, with a selection of fresh, local Vegetables.

Yesterday Britain’s Simon Yates had his ‘ Giro d’Italia’ lead cut in half  after a dramatic final climb on Stage 18, he lost 28 seconds to Tom Dumoulin, last year’s winner of the ‘Pink Jersey’ – Today’s Stage 19 , over 184 kms is the hardest day of the race so far, with four major climbs, as you can see below; Watch this space.

This evening after supper we will be channel hopping, as usual, to find something to watch.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
