I was up early this morning to welcome back
little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s with us every day except Thursday,
this week, she shot upstairs and joined us on the bed for a little sleep in, ‘Charlie’
slept all night on his mat and then also joined us, on the bed, for his last
morning with us as he’s being collected at lunchtime by Brian, after a quick
freshen up I wrapped up in the waterproofs and braved the elements, as
overnight and this morning the rain storms returned with a vengeance, I took ‘
Charlie’ for his first walk of the day, he’s a very considerate dog, he walks
slowly, as the steep streets are very slippery, and leaves his ‘messages’ in good places, by
the side of the kerb, for the ‘ doggy bag’- around trees and in the bushes!
When we returned Brenda was ready with the
beach towel to dry ‘ Charlie’ off, I fend for myself! Brenda then treated me to
‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ smothered
in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce, with a mug of steaming tea, after breakfast I was out
again in the rain to collect, from Rose, ‘Scruffy’ for day, he’s going to be
with us each day this week as Adrian is back in Hospital, for another operation
later in the week, his hip-replacement is not going well, he was taken down on
Sunday for an emergency operation, which could not continue, as he’s on
blood-thinner tablets for his heart condition, so he has to wait five days
before they can operate again! Watch
this space.
This morning it’s very grey & overcast
with dark storm clouds, again, with a slight breeze, the rain has not stopped
from yesterday evening, by this afternoon the temperature is still due to reach
16/17 degs, the rest of the week is looking the same, sadly, with more of the
wet stuff to come, even getting a little warmer ( 18 degs+) before the weekend,
but then on the ten-day forecast for sunny Manilva it’s showing the return of
the sun from next Monday! Watch this space.
This evening for our supper we are having
the rest of the ‘ Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto’ which I will
add some more ‘Smoked Chicken and Green Beans’ too, before warming it in a
little stock, the rest of week’s menu’s are still TBC, as you can see above it’s
‘ British Pie Week’ – to be classed as a ‘Pie’ it must have a full ‘Pastry’
bottom, sides and top! We don’t like a lots of pastry so I’m planning to make
our regular ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Tarragon Pie’ with a Puff-Pastry lid on
one day, on Friday it’s going to be another old classic of my version/recipe of
‘ Fish Pie ‘! Watch this space.
Last night after supper we settled down to
watch, first, a episode of ‘ Call the Midwife’ – which was a rather harrowing episode
as one of the main characters died in hospital from septicaemia after contracting
meningitis, it was very moving, to say the least, we then caught the final
episode of the two-part ‘ Strike: Career of Evil ‘ starring Tom Burke &
Holliday Granger ‘ as the one-legged Soho Private Detective, Cormoran Strike
and his sidekick Robin, as they tracked down the killer that sent body parts in the
post, he also disguised himself with a fake beard & hat! At the same time
they uncovered a child paedophile! The
best new detective series, written by ‘J
K Rowling’ – let’s hope that it’s not three strikes and they’re out!!!
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
