A VERY WET, COLD & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 17th MARCH 2018.   “ ST. PATRICK’S DAY “

We all had a nice lie in this morning, both the dogs slept all night, ‘Scruffy’ on the bed and ‘ Chico’ is his bed, after a quick freshen up we put the waterproofs on and braced the elements, as ‘ Storm Gisell ‘ hit us during the night, heavy rain, thunder & lightening, the full-works!

As we set off it was a light drizzle but it then turned into a full-blown rain storm, so all four of us came back, soaked to the skin, the dogs were like drowned-rats and the two of us had to change out of our soaked clothes, I stayed out and went along to the local Bank in ‘Calle Mar’ through the mud, as we needed some cash for the gas-bottle delivery man later, he’s still managing to exchange the bottles, coming up through the back streets!

When I returned Brenda had our breakfast ready, her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for her, with mugs of steaming tea, to get us back into the land of the living!

Today, as you have already read above it’s very wet, windy and cold in sunny Manilva, as forecast, it’s with us for the rest of the weekend, so we are in for a rather uncomfortable time, to say the least, as we are out with the two dogs, on their walks, then on Monday, at the start of the week, it’s all change, as the sun returns to sunny Manilva!  The forecast is then for warm & sunny weather for the rest of the week, hovering on the 16/17 degs+ mark, overnight down to 9/11 degs, next weekend is ‘Palm Sunday ‘-  it’s the start of the ‘ Semana Santa’ week leading up the ‘ Easter Weekend’- hopefully, for a change, warm & sunny, fingers crossed! Watch this space.

PS; On Monday, here in Spain, it’s “ Dia de Padre – Father’s Day “

PPS; We spoke to a local Councillor, yesterday, at lunchtime, when were out, and confirmed the routes for the ‘ Semana Santa ‘ processions here in the village, I also picked up the leaflet with all the times & details, from the Town Hall, as usual it all starts down at the ‘ La Iglesia Santa Ana Church’ and the heads up the newly re-furbished/flagged ‘Calle Cruce’- then round to the top of the village before going back down to the church, watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend; over here in ‘ La Liga ‘ on Sunday Barcelona are at home to Athletic Bilbao & Real Madrid welcome Girona, in the UK in the ‘ Premier League’ Liverpool are at home to Watford and Everton have the short journey, down the ‘M 6’ to play Stoke, Manchester City’s game has been postponed so they are away in Abu Dhabi,on a short-break,  today’s ‘ National Hunt Jump Racing ‘ comes from Uttoxeter as it’s the ‘Midlands Gran National’ – the ‘Gypsy Grand National ‘ when all the ‘traveller’s’ from all over the country attend, meanwhile it’s the final games of the ‘ Six Nations Rugby Union Championship’ as Italy welcome Scotland, Wales are at home to France and the England play Ireland, on ‘St.Patrick’s Day’ down at Twickenham!

This evening for our supper we are having a large ‘Rib of Beef ‘- on the bone and cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before taking it off the bone and slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with Seared Asparagus Spear & Button Mushrooms, accompanied with the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce, with Whole Baby French Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’

See below;

After supper we will settle down to watch the next exciting, back to back episodes, of the Danish crime thriller, with sub-titles, “  Below the Surface “ – all the action takes place in the underground railway system in Copenhagen, as a hostage is killed! Watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
