Unusually for a Friday morning we had a little
lie in this morning, as it’s a ‘Bank Holiday’ here in Spain – one of the many religious
days – the “ Feast of the Immaculate Conception “ The village is ‘ dead ‘ with no children, no
workers, no traffic and at the moment the ‘Church Bells’ have not yet started!
‘Chico’ has slept in his bed all night and
is very good in the morning as he waits for us to get up, we took him for his
first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, ‘Reina’ is not with us
today, she’s back next week for three days, ‘ Chispa’ is calling in all the time
to see her friends and us!
On the way back we called into the ‘Manilva
Gastronomic Food & Wine Festival ‘ which is just setting up, we will go
down later to have a good look around.
After checking out the festival, see the pictures above, we ended up sat outside ' Bar Rojas ' in the very warm sunshine for a nice cool drink, we had a catch-up chat with our Dutch neighbours before speaking to a nice couple, John & Shelia, from Ireland, they live in 'County Tipperary' - as they say " It's a Long Way from Tipperary " !!

This evening the village ‘Xmas’ lights are
being turned on, the only problem is that there none?! ‘Calle Mar’ is a
disaster zone and there are just three small street decorations in front of the
Wine Museum, last year on the corner of the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ the Council
erected a very large modern Xmas Tree, which was on-loan from Madrid, there is
no sign of it this year, so we are waiting to see what is going to happen,
watch this space.
When we returned we treated ourselves to a
cooked breakfast of ‘ Campo Fried Eggs & Crispy Smoked Bacon ‘ with lots of
buttered toast and mugs of steaming tea, not forgetting the ‘ HP’ Brown sauce!
We have another glorious day down here on
the ‘ Costa Del Sol ‘ in sunny Manilva; the sun was out early the sky is clear
and bright blue, there is no breeze so it’s still a little’ crisp’ but warm and
sunny, even on the shady side of the street, hovering on the 21 degs+ mark!
Over the weekend we are in for more of the same, next week is looking mostly
dry & sunny with the threat of the ‘ wet stuff ’ on Monday/ Friday, watch
this space.
We have just come off the ‘Facebook Messenger
Video’ after Jack & Lyn called from Melbourne, their ‘Skype’ video is still
not connecting, they have had a friend in to check it out, ‘Plan B’ – we will
try on another day, they are both fine and looking forward to Xmas, they are
desperate to get the ‘ Skype’ working so as they can join in on ‘ Boxing Day’ when
we are arranging to make contact with Sandra & Bill and the family over in
Everett, Ontario, Canada, as Sandra has to work on Christmas Day this year,
watch this space.
We went to see the Xmas lights turned on earlier this evening, the local ' Chi Chi Pom Band ' was playing at the same time, see above.

This evening for our supper I’m making my
famous ‘ Seafood Risotto’ using Hake, Cod & Salmon, Prawns & Mussels, I
sweat-off in White Wine the finely diced Onions, Shallots & Garlic, before
adding the Spanish ‘Arborio’ Rice, then slowly,
the rich ‘Fish & Vegetable’ stock, all the ingredients are then added to
cook, along with some Garden Peas & Green Beans with Chopped Parsley before
adjusting the seasoning, to taste.
Last night we watched the next episode of
the compelling ‘ Love, Lies & Records ‘as ‘Kate’ once again had to juggle
her work and home life.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
