A RATHER DAMP. GREY & OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY " CHRISTMAS DAY 2017 "

MONDAY 25th/ DECEMBER 2017   “ CHRISTMAS DAY “

We had a little lie in this morning, ‘Reina’ joined us on the bed after sleeping all night in her duvet, she was collected later by Daniela, she’s back for three days from Wednesday and on New Year’s Eve,  ‘ Charlie’ also slept all night on the rug by the side of the bed before joining us on the bed, taking my place when I got up!

See below;

‘ Castle Radio FM’ was live on air this morning from the studio just up the road from us, so I sent in a request to Andrew Charles on the breakfast show, which he played, he sent our best wishes to all our family & friends, all over the World, you can listen to the station online, and played one of our favourite tracks, that I played on one of my early shows “ Buona Sera Signorina “ by ‘ Louis Prima’ – check it out! We were dancing & singing and you will when you here it!!

We then took ‘Charlie’ out for his first walk of the day around a very quiet village, the only people about were the firemen in the Fire Station! We then had a quick toast & tea before sorting out this evening’s supper.

I put the savoury ‘Mixed Herb’ Stuffing in the oven along with the large ‘ Pigs In Blanket’- then the par-boiled potatoes( sliced in half) into a tray of ‘Hot Goose Fat’ - ready to go in the oven this evening, the ‘Turkey’ is will be carved later and the finger-licking Pan Gravy will be warmed up,  meanwhile the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ is keeping things very simple and traditional, Baby Brussels Sprouts with Sippits of Smoked Bacon, Batons of Glazed Baby Carrots, Roast Wedges of Parsnips & Garden Peas.

See above ' Casa Sexton ' this evening, ready for the Christmas supper, the Turkey is carved, the ' Goose Fat ' Roast Potatoes are' crisp' and the vegetable selection is on the table with the finger-licking Pan Gravy!  ( pictures to follow later !) - due to technical problems!!

At lunchtime we are going to have ‘ Campo’ Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon and a nice glass of chilled ‘ Cava’ before settling down in front of the TV to watch the ‘ Queens’ speech over in the UK and the ‘ Kings’ speech here in Spain!!

Sadly the wet stuff has arrived earlier than forecast, it’s now overcast, grey and damp, there is no breeze so it’s still due to reach 16/17 degs later, it’s the same on Boxing Day & Wednesday, then it’s picking up, dry & sunny reaching the heady heights of 20/21 degs+ over the weekend and into next week, watch this space.

Our first call this morning was from our dear friend Joyce ( Baby!) up in ‘ Alhaurin el Grande ‘ – we are meeting up with her sometime over the festive period, we then made contact via a Facebook Messenger Video call, for the first time, with Norah & Jenny over in Runcorn in Cheshire, using Norah’s son, Darren, Facebook contact, they are all well and looking forward to going out later in the week to celebrate Jenny’s 70th birthday.

Next we called Jack & Lyn over in Melbourne , for a quick chat, on the ‘ Skype’ Landline, to wish them ‘ Happy Christmas’ and tell them to try and make contact with Norah & Jenny over in the UK via the Facebook Messenger Video, they had just come back from a large family party, finally we have just talked to David & Jane over in Northwich, in Cheshire, and caught them having their first glass of Champagne, they are off to Mexico in the new year for a short holiday and are planning to come down to see us later in 2018, here in sunny Manilva!

Last night after supper I found over on ‘Channel 5’a documentary about ‘Andre Rieu’ – the Dutch violinist & conductor best known for creating his waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra, he’s from Maastrict in the Netherlands and is a World wide artist & showman, it showed various concerts, from around the World, especially over in Australia, where he performed with the largest ever stage to go on tour, of the Empress’ Sis’s Castle in Vienna. He plays a 1667 ‘ Stradivarious ‘ violin and the orchestra and singers all perform in ‘ over the top’ costumes, the concert from the UK in front of a ‘ rapt’ audience of fans even had ‘ fake’ snow covering the masses! Check him out!!

This evening we will channel hop and find something to watch after studying the TV Times, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
