A STILL VERY' CRISP' BUT SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 7th/ DECEMBER 2017.

I was up early this morning and after a quick freshen up I welcomed back little princess ‘ Reina ‘ for the day, she shot into her duvet, ‘Chico’ who sleeps all night in his bed by the side of our bed was still asleep, Brenda took him out for his first walk of the day, a little later, he’s settled in  very well and is eating everything, he’s no problem and is a ‘love’ to have around, he follows Brenda everywhere, as she’s the one who feeds him!

I walked down to catch the local bus outside the ‘Wine Museum’ to go down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, I called into the ‘ English Bookshop ‘ to post some more Xmas cards (Spanish) – the ones I posted last week are starting to arrive in the UK, we are also receiving Xmas cards from the UK & Canada already! I picked up the local ‘English’ newspapers and then shot along to ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop, the checkout lady called a taxi for me, which came back up to the house through the back streets, I unpacked, with Brenda’s help and then had a nice cup of tea & toast.

It is again very ‘ crisp’ & cold in the shade this morning, with a little breeze, the sun has broken through and the sky is clearing, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 20 degs+ - over the weekend we are in for more of the same, which is good for the first annual ‘ Manilva Gastronomic Food & Wine Festival’ taking place on Friday/Saturday down on the ‘ Plaza de la Vendimia’ Next week is now forecasting a little rain on Monday but then settling down, a little cooler, but dry & sunny, hovering on the 15 degs mark, watch this space.

See below a picture of a ‘ Ferry Across the Mersey ‘ on its way to Seacombe!

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings ‘ with Diamond-Cut Green Beans and a Baked Potato, on Friday it’s going to be my famous ‘  Seafood Risotto’ then on Saturday we are having a large ‘ Entrecote Steak ‘ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare ‘ and then left to rest before slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style. On Sunday we ‘Roasting’ – a Leg of New Zealand, South Island, Lamb’ with of course ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes!

Brenda has just been out to the local Chemists for our prescription tablets and on the way back called in the shop in our street for some essentials, as she came out she noticed that the door to ‘Bodegan Andaluz ‘ was open, two doors below us, it closed a few months ago, it turns out that it’s going to re-open in January as a ‘Pizzaria’ run by an old Italian friend ‘ Dominico’ who is Mano’& Anna’s ‘ex son in law’- the ‘Pizzaria’ in Calle Mar also closed a few months ago, so there is a gap in the market, we wish him all the best, watch this space.

Last night after supper we caught the next exciting episode of ‘Peaky Blinders ‘ – Tommy, was at his best as he used his brother as ‘ bait ‘ – but the Italians used it as a decoy to scare the other brother in Hospital, the hired ‘ Gypsy’ gun men then killed two more of the ‘Mafioso’- the ‘ Cockney-Jewish gangster, Alfie, swaggered back into the fray! ‘Tommy’ was turned down by his aristocratic old flame, the other lady in his life discovered  that she is pregnant, by reading her ‘ tea leaves’ - after last week’s canal-side ‘ tryst’! Tommy’s sister went as his emissary with an offer to the lady Union leader, meanwhile he was trying to get his new sideline in gin-bootlegging up and running!

The ferocious gypsy fighter has his first fight against  ‘ Goliath’- the nephew of ‘ Alfie ‘ – finally at the end ‘Changretta’ killed one bodyguard at the hospital but didn’t kill the young brother, meanwhile treacherous ‘ Aunt Polly’ sent Tommy off on a ‘ Red Herring ‘ meeting with a van-load of tooled-up ‘ Changretta’ men behind him! We will find our more in next week’s penultimate episode!!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
