A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 12th/ NOVEMBER 2017.   “ REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY “

Sadly we had no joy with making contact, on the ‘ Skype’ video, with Jack & Lyn, over in Melbourne last night, there was no sign of them being online, it looks like they have a technical problem, we tried again this morning, but with the same result. Watch this space for ‘ Plan B’

We managed a little lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, after freshening up we had a quick tea & toast before getting the ‘ Sunday Roast’ on the go.

We are having a local ‘Roast Chicken’ with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing, I have just made the ‘ finger-licking’ Pan Gravy, I portion the Chicken, not carved, which we will have tomorrow night served cold, the ‘Vegetable Chef’ has, by her normal standards, kept things simple, Glazed Carrot Batons & Whole Green Beans, Braised Leeks in a Cream Sauce, Florets of Broccoli & Cauliflower in a Cheese sauce and Garden Peas, the ‘ Goose-Fat ‘ Roast Potatoes will go in the oven this evening, they were par-boiled, drained and then shaken in the traditional fashion!

While all this has been going on we have been following ‘Remembrance Day’ service from the Cenotaph in London, very moving, as usual, when the massed bands play ‘ Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations Nimrod ‘ – the peace of the music always brings tears to our eyes. The other music played also brings the moment into your mind. ‘ Rule Britannia, Heart of Oak, Men of Harlech, The Skye Boat Song etc. Then when all the veterans march past the mass bands play ‘ It’s A Long Way To Tipperary’

As forecast we have yet another beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun is out, the sky is blue, and there is just a very light breeze, by lunchtime it will be nearly 25 degs+ Next week starts the same and then goes back to normal for the time of the year, hovering on the 20 degs mark, 12/13 degs during the night, watch this space.

We went out at lunchtime along to ' Bar Castillo' for a nice cool drink, sat in the warm sunshine, Brenda had a Tapas of 'Salmon a la Plancha' and I had the house ' Paella '

See below the beach down in Sabinillas this morning.

Next week we have no appointments, ‘Reina’ is with us three days, on Tuesday we are going along to ‘Iceland’ past Sotogrande for the essential ‘Xmas ‘ shopping, then on Friday I will be out on my travels, as usual, down in Sabinillas, for the weekly shopping, I will drop down into ‘Puerto De La Duquesa’ to call into the ‘ English Butchers’ to order the fresh ‘Turkey’ and other ‘goodies’ –  Brenda has requested, for this year also, a small ‘ Leg of Pork ‘ with ‘ Crackling’ ! Then when I return I will pop down to local Butcher to order the ‘Boxing Day ‘ Entrecote of Beef on the Bone ‘

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
