A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 11th/ APRIL 2017.

Just as I was getting up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘Reina’ I got a message from Daniela to say that her shoulder problem had flared up again so she was working from home today and would be keeping her with her, we went back to bed and had a nice long lie in before having breakfast, ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ with mugs of tea. This means that she could be back with us for the next two days, only this week, and then four days next week because of the  ‘English Bank Holidays’ that are in Gibraltar.

Today the sun broke through early and the clouds have cleared, it’s warm and sunny with no breeze, the rest of the week and over the weekend is more of the same, it’s hovering on the 24/25degs mark if not a little hotter on Saturday & Sunday to end the ‘ Semana Santa ‘ week.

See below Liverpool basking in the sunshine yesterday.

On Sunday we missed the start of the festivities for ‘Palm Sunday’ when the ‘ La Borriquita’ procession, along Calle Mar, carrying the ‘Tronos- Throne ‘ on the shoulders of the Brotherhood ‘ Costaleros ‘ – traditionally they used a ‘ Costal - Sack ‘ to bear the weight. The ‘ NazareƱos – Penitents’ follow/lead in their ‘Capirotes – Conical Hats & Robes’ All this is lead by the Manilva Brass Band playing processional music written for Easter, the local dignitaries follow with their staffs of office. The same procession was taking place in ‘ Mojacar Pueblo ‘ on Sunday as elsewhere in every village & town in Andalucia.

See the pictures above;

This evening for our supper we are keeping things simple as we are having  ‘Grilled flattened Chicken Breast ‘ with finely sliced Green Beans and sauteed thick-cut slices of Baked Potato. The next two day will be deep-freeze selection time and then on ‘Good Friday’ I’m making my famous ‘ Fish Pie ‘

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the final of ‘  ‘University Challenge’ when the favourites were beaten, then we caught the pen-ultimate episode of ‘ Broadchurch’ – the suicide attempt was foiled, the taxi drivers wife discovered porn on his PC and ‘ trophies’ from the victims in the garage, the football sock was used as the gag and had DNA on it of the rapist?! Is it the husband, her lover, he besotted boss or the taxi driver, or is it somebody else, all will be revealed next week! Watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
