A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY;

SUNDAY 23rd APRIL 2017   “ ST. GEORGE’S DAY “

We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, the church bells calling the faithful didn’t start until later, overnight the wind has dropped also, we are having an at home day, taking things easy as we have a busy ‘ out & about ‘ week ahead. For breakfast we had a treat of ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs ‘ with buttered toast and mugs of steaming tea.

This morning we are back to normal for the time of the year, warm & sunny, the clouds have cleared and there is no wind breeze, the sky is bright blue and by lunchtime it’s due to reach the low 20s, overnight is also a lot milder, next week we are in for more of the same, getting a little warmer as the week goes on, there is still the threat of some of the wet stuff on Friday/Saturday, watch this space.

Outside the Town Hall this morning there is ‘Children’s Cultural Experience’ organised by the Council taking place, Calle Mar is full of happy children and their parents, this evening in the Municipal Theatre there is a children’s play.

For our supper this evening, on Brenda’s request, we are having ‘ Baked Pork Chops’ with glazed ‘Fuji’ Apple slices; the ‘English’ Pork Chops are seared on a very hot griddle plate, to mark & colour, before going in the oven to bake, the ‘Fuji’ Apple slices are started in butter & sugar before also being finished in the oven.

The ‘ Vegetable Chef’ has prepared Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Carrot Batons with Ginger and whole Green Beans, this evening I will be making our favourite ‘ Pommes Lyonnaise ‘ – sautéed, sliced boiled Potatoes & Onions with Chopped Parsley.

Our local radio station ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & online on the WWW’ is back on air, due to popular demand, with a bit of help & luck, it will be with a slightly different format to previously, Andrew Charles will be back on air, live, from the studio down in ‘Castillo de la Duquesa’ from Monday morning 8-10 with his  daily ‘eponymous’ breakfast show playing great music! There might even be a return, in the not too distant future, of ‘ Sir Malcolm’s Classic Saturday Session’ coming to you ‘ live’ from my studio in the heart of sunny Manilva, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Everton played a goalless drew, the ‘ Scottish Grand National ‘ was won by a horse called ‘ Vincente’ ( our street name ) for the second time in succession! Chelsea beat Spurs 4-2 in the first semi-final of the FA Cup, we will catch the second semi-final later as Manchester City take on Arsenal, at the moment we are watching the coverage on BBC TV of this year’s London Marathon, a friend from Llandudno. Ian Turner, is running in it. Then finally its ‘ El Classico ‘ as Real Madrid welcome Barcelona in what could be the decider for the ‘ La Liga ‘ Championship, watch this space.

After our supper last night we watched ‘ Britain’s Got Talent ‘ and then ‘ QI’ –a repeat with Stephen Fry.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
