A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA AND ESTEPONA ON THURSDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2015. !

THURSDAY 24th SEPTEMBER 2015.

                          " LET THE CELEBRATIONS BEGIN - MALCOLM'S 70TH BIRTHDAY "

Well I've made it, in one piece, for my 70th birthday, born on the 24th September 1945 in Walton Hospital in Liverpool, now living in sunny Manilva on the 24th September 2015!!

We collected Tim & Thea from the 'Bella Vista' site, they had decorated the Motor Home with banners and inside was my present, a 'Hamper' of 'Goodies' containing most importantly two framed pictures of Jo & Ben in their graduation robes, a 'Cymru' car sticker, two large bottles of Bacardi & Gin, 'Kettle' crisps, 'Heroes' chocolates, special Chutney's and various English essentials! See below;

We then set off to Estepona where we then had my first treat of the day, a 'Full English Breakfast' - 'Spanish' style with crispy Smoked Bacon,fried 'Campo' Eggs, Spanish 'Frankfurters' Baked Beans and proper toast! We then walked along to the " Orchidarium" - it was very hot and sunny and as the day went on it got even hotter;

The 'Orchid House' was at its best and not busy, see the pictures above,as we made our way to the center where the three cascades/water falls come crashing down, they suddenly went off along with the air conditioning?! It turned out that a Spanish TV crew from 'Cuatro' were filming and did not want any noise!! Charming!!

Next we made or way along to San Pedro to show the folks the new 'Boulevard' at its finest, we then stopped  at our favourite Tapas Bar 'Calderon' were we had a very nice al fresco lunch sat taking in the sights and sounds.

It was then time to come back along the coast for our 'Siesta' time to prepare for the nights celebrations; I collected then from the site and left the car in the underground car park, back at the house we then opened the bottle of " Ruinart Vinatge Rose " Champagne which we drank from our antique French champagne flutes - It was rather special, to say the least! See the 'Gang of Four' below!

We then called a taxi to take us down to the 'Duquesa Marina'  to the " Restaurante Macues " where we started with some fine chilled Cava; Tim & Thea ordered the fresh,local 'Calamari Frito ( Baby Squid( & I had the 'House' 'Cocktail de Gambas' as the 'Torres Vina Sol' started flowing!

For our main courses Brenda had for a change the 'Fillets of Sea Bass' in a light Mustard Sauce' with Turned Potatoes,Thea choose the 'Brochette of Gambas & Fish' with a seafood salsa Time has a local 'Sole Meuniere' and I had the 'Grilled Sole' - both filleted at the table,a large dish of perfect fresh 'Frits' appeared! See the pictures above. It was a memorable meal,perfectly served and enjoyed by all as we sat overlooking the Marina on a 'Balmy' evening.

Fresh local Raspberries for desert before the Birthday Firework Candle arrived in a very rich Chocolate cake! We then had a round of chilled 'Lemoncello' on the house to finish off a very special evening with our dearest friends!!

We then jumped into the taxi's back to the site and up to the village after one 'Helluva' day!

PS; The main " GOOGLE CHROME " header changed to Birthday Cakes etc with a message for me! Its never happened before, how and by whom?! See below;

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
