A WARM BUT OVERCAST SUNNY MANILVA ON 'VENDIMIA' SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 4th/ SEPTEMBER 2015.

           THE " QUEEN " AND HER 'CONSORT' ( BODYGUARD ) SUNNY MANILVA 2015

We were up sharpish this morning as 'Freddie & Bentley' were due to be dropped off for their two day sleep over, so I took 'Charlie' out for his first walk of the day before they arrived; when I returned we gave him his tablet and then his first meal of the day, we have to get into a routine with all the dogs for their feeding likes/ times,what and how much they eat etc; they are all different so we have to arrange a schedule!

'Reina' is due to be dropped off early this evening. 'Charlie' slept all night on the floor,he starts on the bed and then jumps down, in the morning its the reverse as he gets back on the bed for his first cuddle of the day! No doubt 'Chispa' will come calling later - the 'Famous Five' are in Town!!

After settling them in we then had our traditional Saturday breakfast of 'Campo' Poached Eggs on Toast ( see the picture below) - we then freshened ourselves up ready for the day and night ahead,last night it was the traditional Friday 'Vendimia Flamenco' concert down in the 'Pabellon' by the sports ground, it goes on into the wee small hours and this year you could hear it as the wind carried the sounds across the village!

Over night the tail end of the storms that has been hitting Northern Spain came down our way,no rain but a cold wind,unusual for this time of the year, it looks like its in for the weekend,; along 'Calle Mar' this morning as I went along to the chemists for something for my sore eye, that had developed over the last two days, all the house's were building their own 'Sonbrajos' mostly with large Palm leaves.

This year there are three stages,two in 'Calle Mar' for the 'Samba Bands' and a large on that has been built over the main fountain in the 'Plaza de la Vendimia' for 'House Music'! This evening its the religious part of the Festival led by the village Brass Band and the 'Tableau' with all the village in their 'Vendimia' costumes carrying bunches of the 'Muscatel' grapes to be weighed to find the heaviest!!

Then on Sunday there is live music all day before the 'Andalucian Horse Parade' and the grape crushing afterwards; we are keeping a low profile on both day this year as we are rather busy in 'Doggy World Heaven'

From this picture back in 2013 the 'Mosiac Mural' was copied and made and then placed on the wall behind the grape crushing pit to be seen by future generations!    " Mario, Malcolm & Diego "

At lunchtime we went for a nice walk with the three dogs and as we were leaving we bumped into two couples's who asked us what was happening and when! So I gave them the full rundown and quick trip around the sights! Nice to meet Ian, Paul, Jackie & Karen - enjoy your visit!!

Today's Stage 14 of the " Vuelta d'Esapna15" is from Vitoria to the top of the very high ' Funte Del Chivo' over 215 kms with two big climbs on the way, as you can see in the profile below; meanwhile over in Italy its the 'Grand Prix' No football this weekend as its the 'Euro 16' International Qualification matches in various countries i.e Spain & England.

This evening we are having our normal Saturday night 'Entrecote Steak' with all the trimmings for our supper as we prepare ourselves later to listen to the music,singing and dancing as the night progresses!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
