" THE OLD BLIND SCHOOL" LIVERPOOL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA & SOTOGRANDE ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 3rd/ JUNE 2015.

No lie in needed this morning, we are up and sorting ourselves out for the day ahead; after a quick breakfast we are getting ready to go out a little later after choosing the outfits, showering etc. The sun is out and its going to be another hot one today down here on the ‘Costa Del Sol’ and in particularly sunny Manilva! Over the next few days its going hotter and the weekend looks a ‘cracker’! See today’s chart below, we are just in the ‘Red’

Yesterday afternoon the workmen finished late after laying the floor so its dead today, as the concrete sets, when they finished pumping they then load a steel cannonball through the pipes to clean it out, we were up on the roof terrace by then so they shouted a warning to get out of the way as it shoots out at high speed! Now for the next floor/floors?! Then the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the last two weeks there has been no sightings in the village of the “Lesser Spotted Throat Warblers” i.e. ‘The Politicians’ I asked one of the more vocal ones for a comment and update on what is happening via Facebook – no reply has been forthcoming up to now! Anyway on various Facebook pages of certain parties/ councilors yesterday evening there was hints that a coalition is coming together, as yet un-confirmed, between the ‘PSOE’ & ‘IU’ ( 9 seats in total) – meaning that the ‘Compromiso’ ( 5 seats only) have lost power after many years! Watch this space as I think they have time up to the 13th June to finalize the pact!

We are driving down the coast road by the Mediterranean to Sotogrande Marina to go to the ‘KE’ Bar for an al fresco ‘Tapas’ lunch. It’s always good and the prices are very reasonable even though it’s the most spectacular and private marina on the coast. See the pictures later above.

Brenda is in her new White outfit & I'm in my old outfit! Russian Salad & Bacerones to start;Prawn Mornay & Liver for Brenda, Diced Chicken in a Cream Peppercorn sauce & small marinated Pork Brochettes for me!

Meanwhile in London yesterday they announced at a grand ceremony the “Top 50 Restaurants” in the World; the winner’s this year was “ El Cellar De Can Roca” in Girona run by the three brothers Joan,Josep & Jordi Roca- their parents still have a small bar/restaurant in the town that they still run! One brother is the ‘Head Chef’ one is the best ‘Patisserie Chef’ in the World and the other brother is the ‘Sommelier’ in the restaurant!

When we get back from lunch we will go up on the roof terrace a little earlier then usual as there are no workmen today, for an extended ‘Happy Hour’- then this evening we will have a light supper after finding something in the fridge.

I’ve posted above some more pictures from “The Old Blind School” in Liverpool showing the inside of the building taken yesterday; we received an invite to Paul &Wendy’s joint 50th birthday celebration/party taking place at the ‘Old Sessions House’ in Knutsford in July which sadly we can’t make – its going to be a ‘Helluva’ party if we know the ‘Newman’s’ featuring especially Wendy’s favorite ‘Champagne’!! All the very best to Paul & David for the official opening/launch this Friday.

" CALLE SAN VICENTE " THIS AFTERNOON;

" THE OLD BLIND SCHOOL " LIVERPOOL LAST NIGHT;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;

TUESDAY 2nd/ JUNE 2015.

No lie in this morning as ‘Reina’ was due to be dropped off first thing; yesterday afternoon when Lee & Daniela collected her they brought us some very welcome gifts, litre bottles of ‘Bacardi & Bombay Sapphire’ for the sprit cupboard!! They had been in Edinburgh for Daniela’s grandmother’s 80th birthday celebration over the weekend with all the family. Many thanks for the contribution!

Later just as we were starting our ‘Happy Hour’ Mano & Anna called in for a chat and gossip so they joined us, when Mano calls in it gives me a chance to make sure that I’m understanding and translating the news correctly as we only have, by choice, Spanish TV. ‘Scruffy’ was picked up just as they were leaving, he’s back on Friday as Rose had an appointment at the hospital over in Malaga for a checkup scan.

After breakfast I went and brought the car up from the garage to check the oil & water and then carried on down to the surgery and made the appointments, for both of us, to update our prescriptions and have a checkup at the same time, our regular Doctor has had an accident and broken her arm so we will have to take pot luck with the relief Doctor on Friday lunchtime.

Last night over in Liverpool the ‘New Moon Pub Company’ had a ‘Soft Opening’ of their latest venture in their ‘Empire’ before the official opening on Friday of 'The Old Blind School’ – see the pictures above.

Today its getting even hotter, the sun was out early and by lunchtime it will be around the 28/29degs mark, inland its due to reach 39/40 degs in places, the sky is blue and there is just a very light breeze to make it just bearable! Later in the week it’s getting warmer and then over the weekend is settling down.

At lunchtime we went for a nice walk with 'Reina'  & 'Chispa' and ended up sat in the garden of 'Carlos's Bar Antuigdades' for a nice cool drink taking in the views across to the mountains as the world passed by!

This evening for our supper we are having ‘Pork Fillet Schnitzels ’using fresh breadcrumb’s from the bakery with ‘Spaghetti Milanese’ & sautéed Mushrooms, I will top mine with a ‘Campo’ Fried Egg, Capers & Anchovy Fillets – “ Holstein” style!

Later this afternoon the cement truck/pump was back at the site as they lied the ground floor; See the pictures above. NB; Note the polystyrene sheets against our walls before the cement!   ( I've just put my initials in it 'MLS' for posterity!)

The roof terrace will be in use later after the sun moves around and then after supper we will find something to watch after channel hopping.

Tomorrow at lunchtime we are going down the coast to Sotogrande Marina for a al fresco ‘Tapas’ lunch at the ‘KE’ Bar – watch out for the pictures later in the afternoon!

" CASA DE TORRES " IN SUNNY MANILVA THIS AFTERNOON;

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM SUNNY MANILVA;

A HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 1st/ JUNE 2015.

Up as normal this morning after another hot night ‘Reina’ slept on the bed and then down on the floor, she’s being picked up later today ‘Scruffy’ is due back with us at lunchtime for the day and is also being collected later.

The sun was out first thing and the sky is blue, its going to another hot one today here in sunny Manilva; the week ahead is also looking fine with more of the same and getting warmer.

Our weekly menu planning meeting was short and sweet this morning as yesterday evening Brenda was a little off colour and had a tummy bug so we had something light, this evening we are having the ‘Medallions of Pork Fillet’ that we were going to have last night and then tomorrow we are having ‘Pork Schnitzels’ which we were going to have tonight! The rest of the week is TBC. See below for this evening's supper!

So on Wednesday lunchtime we are going out for a ‘Tapas’ lunch a the ‘KE’ Bar in Sotogrande, then the shopping this week is on Saturday Morning; on Sunday in the village it’s the “Festival Corpus Christi”- one of the may religious festivals at this time of the year – this is the one when there are lots of flower decorations/displays in the streets that are covered with flower petals.

The workmen are back with a vengeance this morning and are carrying on laying the concrete beams; there has just been a large delivery of lots of pallets at the top of our street, with all sorts of stuff on them to carry on with the ground floor construction. Today's work below.

Speaking of workmen we are expecting, some time this week, to see our handyman to fit our new back kitchen and sort out some other small jobs around the house at the same time! Watch this space.

Meanwhile at the bottom of our street the work on the new 'Casa de Torres' Museum & Convention Centre is starting to take shape,the scaffolding is down and they are painting the the building,the new roof is on and they are now working on the inside court yard as you can see in the pictures above.

We have just come back from a short walk with ‘Reina’ & ‘Chispa’ after calling into the chemists for our prescriptions, we need to make an appointment at the surgery, for both of us, to renew our six monthly prescriptions and have our check ups!

The roof terrace is calling later this afternoon as the sun moves around so we will be up for our regular ‘Happy Hour’ which we look forward too; then after our supper we will catch up with al the news, sport & weather forecasts for the week ahead.

Last night we found a good film to watch “ The Debt” from 2010 with Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain, Ciaran Hinds, Tom Wilkinson about a ‘Mossad’
mission to capture alive a Nazi war criminal known as the ‘Surgeon of Birkenau’ Very gripping right up to the end!
