A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

FRIDAY 17th/ JULY 2020.    “ NEW NORMALITY – DAY 26”

Just a little lie in this morning after another very ‘ clammy’ night, it’s very quiet here in sunny Manilva as its’ a local ‘ Bank Holiday ‘ for the ” Virgin de Carmen “ – the patron Saint of Fishermen – the church bells, calling the ‘faithful’ to Mass will start shortly.

After freshening up I was on the breakfast rota so I had my favourite ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda – with some of her favourite sliced/seared Button Mushrooms, tossed in the Bacon juices, with a knob of Butter, with mugs of hot/strong ‘ PG ‘ Tips Tea, to set us up for the ‘hot’ weekend ahead!

At the same time we were listening, as usual, to the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Mix106fm’ – as the ‘ Mystery Voice’ quiz came on, I got it straight away, it was the Irish actor James Nesbitt ( Cold Play ) – yesterday’s was hard, we both coudn’t get it, it was ‘ Melania Trump’ who you never hear speak!!

The sky is already blue and clear, with just a few patchy clouds hanging around, the breeze has dropped little, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 28/29 degs+ - overnight only dropping down to 21/22 degs+ - tomorrow will be the same and then on Sunday it’s going hotter, as the breeze drops, back up to 30 degs+ with lots of very hot sunshine, next week we are still in for a ‘ Hot-One’ – all week, hovering in the low/mid 30s, at times reaching 35 degs+ with very hot sunshine, with a slight breeze occasionally, by next weekend going a little cooler, as the breeze stiffens, the following week, at the end of July, is also going to be very hot at August hits us, watch this space.

Over in Estepona they have just unveiled the 61st artist mural on a wall of a building, they are all over the Town, with different styles and artists, it’s ‘ Free’ art gallery!

Yesterday evening we ended up at ‘Bar Castillo’ for our supper, after a nice ‘ Aperitif’ at ‘Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ – Andy came along later, as he had been down in Sabinillas, at his Dentist, as the other night he chipped a  tooth, with a nut, while having a sessions with Brian at ‘Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ – an expensive ‘Chip’ ( 100 Euros!) – he also had his hair cut ( no 2) down in Sabinillas, as the Barbers in ‘Calle Mar’ is on holiday.

We had a nice ‘ Tapas’ supper with a small selection, as the drinks flowed, I had my favourite ‘ Chicken Empanado- Campo Fried Eggs & Frits’!

The bar was very busy as, on the large screen TV it was the ‘ La Liga ‘ football live, as Barcelona played Osasuna and lost 1-2 at home, meanwhile Real Madrid beat Villarreal, at home, 2-1 and so won the ‘La Liga’ for the first time in three years, their 34th title win, the same team last year were 19 points behind Barcelona!  The place went mad, as well as the village, as they are all Rea Madrid supporters! That is except for me and one other local, who are Barcelona fans!

As we were leaving Juan gave us some fresh Tomatoes & Green Peppers from his ‘ Campo’ – which are grown without any pesticides!

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet ‘ – coated in a ‘ Tempura Cruzcampo Beer Batter – shallow fried in Vegetable Oil – until crisp & golden, served with lots of Lemon Wedges and Brenda’s homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce, accompanied with Garden Peas ( still no ‘Batchelors’ Mushy Peas!) and of course triple-cooked ‘ Chips’

On Saturday it’s ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks’ with all the trimmings, then on Sunday we have ordered a ‘Roast Chicken’ from the Rotisserie in ‘Calle Mar ‘ – which we are having with a selection of Mixed salads and my special ‘ Ensaladilla Rusa’ !

“ STAY SAFE & WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES – IN SELF LOCKDOWN HERE & MASKED “

THE RULES !

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
