A VERY HOT & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 5TH/ JULY 2020.    “ NEW NORMALITY – DAY 14 “

We had a nice lie in this morning, as the village was very quiet until the church bells (2) started ringing, calling the ‘ faithful’ to Mass! After freshening up we had our regular fresh fruit (peeled/sliced Nectarines) with toast & tea.

One of the new bells !

It was a little cooler overnight and this morning there is a light breeze coming up off the Mediterranean, the sky is cloudless and blue, the sun was out first thing after a spectacular sunrise, so by lunchtime it’s going to reach 28/29 degs+ - overnight down to 20/21 degs+ - next week is going to be very hot & sunny, with just a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the high 20s, by next weekend back into the low 30s, on Sunday 34 degs+! - The following week is going to be another ‘ Hot-One’ – watch this space.

'  Manilva Sunrise '

Over in Liverpool yesterday on the River Mersey, a strange site of the cruise liner ' Viking Sun' berthing at the Pier Head, with no guests, just with a skeleton crew of 77, as it needed technical repairs after being hit by a storm in the ' Irish Sea'!

And a rather special picture of the Liverpool waterfront skyline on Friday evening!

Just a quick update from last Thursday when the ‘ Head Chef & Second Chef’ were given the night off, they went along to ‘ Bar Castillo’ after first having a nice cool/large drink at ‘ Rojas Sol Vida’ Mano & Anna came along and joined us, as they are going there regularly, as Anna likes the ‘ Fresh Orange Juice’! ( it is very good)

Brenda had the ‘ Dorada Frito’ – ‘Diced Sea Bream in Tempura Batter’  – I had to start the excellent ‘ Tortillitas de Camarones ‘ – Baby Shrimp Crispy Pancakes – followed by the ‘ House ‘ – ‘ Pollo a la Plancha, Huevo Frito(2) & Patatas Fritas ‘ – ‘ Grilled Chicken Fillet, Campo Fried Eggs  & Frits’! The drinks flowed, later Brian’s Swedish friends, Peter & Rose Marie, joined us, after Mano & Anna had left, for a night cap!

This week we have still be having problems with setting up a new ‘ IPTV’ system, our friend Andy has been very helpful, he had called in on Friday when I was ‘ Out’ and set up another one ( 3rd) – but we are still not very successful, yesterday he found another one, but it only stays online for 30 mins! – ‘Plan E’ is required! Watch this space.

On the sports front we have not been watching anything; during the week Liverpool lost to Manchester City 4-0! Today they are at home to Aston Villa and City are down at Southampton, tomorrow Everton go down the M6/1 to play Tottenham Hotspur. Over here in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid are now 4 points ahead of Barcelona, as they travel today to play Athletic Bilbao & Barcelona are at Villarreal.

Yesterday afternoon, we watched, with difficulty, the ‘ Derby’ from Epsom, as ‘ Serpentine’ was the stunning runaway winner at 25-1!  A very strange experience, as usually Epsom has a crowd of over nearly 1 million, yesterday nobody!

On the ‘Menu’ front this week; on Friday, after my ‘ Away Day’ we had our ‘Fish N’ Chip’ supper ( Goujons of Hake Fillet in Breadcrumbs etc) – last night for our ‘ Steak Night’ it was ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steaks’ with all the usual trimmings, today Brenda has prepared all the ingredients for my famous ‘ Ensaladilla Rusa – Russian Salad ‘ – at the same time poaching ‘ Chicken Breasts’ for our supper this evening, which we will have cold & sliced with Mixed Salads also!
