A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 15th/ JUNE 2019.   “ MANILVA PRIDE 19 “

We had a nice lie in this morning, the first this week, ‘Lolo & Reina’ both slept all night, after a quick freshen up Brenda took little princess ‘Reina’ out for a very short walk before going out with ‘Lolo’ for his usual walk.

When she returned it was time for her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for her toast fingers, with mugs of hot tea, sadly the ‘Poached Eggs’ were a ‘ Disaster’ – her own words, with another expletive that I can’t repeat! So no picture today!!

Overnight the breeze picked up, damaging some of our wall plants, so this morning the sky is clear & blue, cloudless and the sun was out early, the breeze has now dropped, so by lunchtime we are in for a ‘hot-one’ – reaching 28 degs+! Tomorrow a little cooler before next week when we are in for a prolonged hot spell, hovering in the high 20s/low 30s+ - just in time for Brenda’s birthday next Saturday!! Watch this space.

Here’s one to think about!

On the sports front this weekend we have; the ‘ Women’s World Cup Football, ICC Cricket World Cup, US Open Golf from Pebble Beach, International Tennis ( Grass Courts) Horse Racing and the Le Mans 24hr’ – all live on our ‘IPTV’ system!

Now here’s a interesting fact from the past, The ‘ Stanley Dock Tobacco Warehouse’ is a grade 11 listed building and is the World’s largest brick warehouse, adjacent to the Stanley Dock, in Liverpool, standing 125 feet high, built in 1901, the 14 story building spans across 36 acres, the construction used 27 million bricks, 30,000 panes of glass and 8,000 tons of steel!

See the pictures below. It’s being converted into 476 apartments with cafes & retail outlets.

This evening for our supper we are having ‘French Trimmed Entrecote Steaks’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘Med Rare’ – then left to rest, garnished with pan-seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms with a sauceboat of the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce, one of the five ‘ mother sauces’ of French Haute Cuisine! The sauce was accidently invented by the chef ‘ Jean Francoise-Collinet’ back in 1836, and first served at the opening of the ‘ Le Pavillion Hernri 1V ‘ Restaurant  outside Paris! Not a lot of people know that- they do now! It’s made with clarified Butter, Egg yolks, Shallots, Chervil, Peppercorns & Tarragon Wine Vinegar. Served with baby whole ‘French Green Beans’ and of course ‘ triple-cooked ‘ Fries’!

After supper we will be settling down to watch the second episode of the new series of the award winning “ Killing Eve “ with Sandra Oh as Eve, the  obsessed ‘MI5 agent and Jodie Comer as Villanelle, the psychopathic, skilled assassin! Watch this space.

PS; See below Daniela as ‘Madonna’ last night on stage and warming up!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
