A CLEARING AND NOW SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 16th/ JUNE 2019.    “ MANILVA PRIDE 19 “

We managed another nice lie in this morning, as next week I have five early starts, from Monday/Thursday at the ‘Estepona Hospital’ and then on Friday morning, out on my travels for the weekly shopping. After freshening up Brenda took ‘ Lolo’ out for his first walk of the day, he slept all night on a blanket at the foot of the bed, he’s due to be collected some time on Tuesday, after his folks return from their holiday in Mexico. ‘Chispa has been in & out to see him and us over the weekend.

As I was on the breakfast rota we had my now famous ‘ Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – mine on buttered white bread and Brenda’s on toasted brown bread, mine smothered in ‘ HP ‘ Brown sauce, with mugs of strong tea, to start the day in the right direction!

The morning has started bright & sunny, but at the moment it’s gone a little cloudy and overcast, there is a slight breeze, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 24 degs, after it picks up and the sun breaks through, next week is now looking very warm & sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the high 20s/low 30s! The following week is also looking very hot & sunny, watch this space.

See below a picture of Sabinillas, down on the coast, taken from a 'Mirador' in the Vine Fields!

Yesterday down in the Council Chambers, next to the Police Station, it was at mid-day, by tradition all over Spain, in villages, towns & Cities, the Inauguration/ Investiture of the new Mayor, Mario, our neighbour, together with all the elected Councillors, swearing/taking the ‘Oath of Allegiance’

See below the pictures showing Mario and his family, his ‘Compromiso ‘ party colleagues, the coalition ‘PSOE’ party led by Diego, who is the Deputy Mayor.

A bit of Liverpool nostalgia, from back in the 60s, showing below the ‘ NEMS’ shop ( North End Music Store)  in ‘Whitechapel’ – opposite the main Post/Sorting Office, with on the other corner the famous ‘ Probe Record’ shop, just around the corner from Mathew Street and the original home of the ‘Cavern Club’ at no 10, opposite ‘The Grapes ‘ Pub!

‘NEMS’ was owned by the ‘Epstein’ family and Brian Epstein was in charge of the shop, I used to call in and play the records on a bank of record players, with headphones, after having listened to all the various bands playing the tunes!  The first ‘Beatles’ record I ever bought, back in 1962 was ‘Love Me Do ‘  “ Happy Days & Memories “!!

Next week, as I said above, I’m back at the ‘ Physiotherapy Department’ for more treatment on my left hand, for four days, the following Monday I have an appointment with the ‘Physiotherapy Consultant ’ for a review/check up, this Monday on my way home I’m calling into the main ‘ Medical Centre’ to make an appointment, with our Doctor, Natalia, after she has returned from her holidays, for a review/check up for Brenda and then me! Next Friday morning I will be back out on my travels, down to SabinIllas for the weekly shopping, we will be going out for supper on Saturday to celebrate ‘ Brenda’s Birthday. ( two options!)

Finally I week today, on Sunday evening it’s the “ Noche De San Juan” celebrations down on the beach in Sabinillas, one of the big nights of the year!

After our lunchtime walk with 'Lolo' we called into ' Bar Castillo' for a nice cool drink, sat in the shade, as it was now very hot & sunny, we had a couple of light Tapas each.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate, garnished with Button Mushrooms and accompanied with a creamy ‘Green Peppercorn’ salsa, served with glazed Carrot Batons &  ‘ French’ Green Beans.

Last night after supper we watched the next exciting episode of the award winning “ Killing Eve “ – this week only one stabbing of a Mum’s boy, who liked ‘Dolls’! He ended up with a toilet brush in his mouth?! Eve just missed capturing Villanelle, as there was a surprise twist in the tale at the very end. Watch this space.

NB; Pete Black is way on holiday up in Scotland so there is no 'Film Quiz' this lunchtime, Andrew Charles is presenting his show from the main studio here in sunny Manilva.

PS; It's 'Fathers Day ' over in the UK!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
