We had a nice lie in this morning after yet
another very late night, by our standards, we arrived home just after 2-00 am
after the ‘ Festival Flamenco de la Vendimia ‘ Before we set off we had a quick,
cool, drink in, for a change, ‘Cafeterias Nacho’ – where we also had their ‘Montaditos’
( small toasted rolls) with Pork ‘a la Plancha’ and a side of the excellent ‘
Frits’
We then headed off in the car and went to
the wrong school, the senior one down the hill, we came back into the village
and made our way to the junior school, in the centre of the village, I dropped Brenda
off and then tried to find somewhere to park in the most difficult part of the
village, I had some luck at the bottom of the village, by the church, I then
made my way up to the school, leaving my camera in the car ( sorry no pic’s of
the concert- at the moment!)
The stage was set in the large playground
of the ‘Pablo Picasso School’ – surrounded by house’s on all sides, as the
whole village ( 500 +) was packed in, on a balmy evening with a light cool
breeze blowing, we stayed until 2-00 am to see three acts, an excellent female ‘Flamenco’
singer with a guitarist, a celebrity piano player ( a flood lit, from inside,
Baby White Grand ) with a violinist, a guitarist and a percussionist, playing
contemporary tunes, with a flamenco-arabesque dancer with large fans and lots
of smoke! Then a male ‘Flamenco’ singer with a guitarist and two male ‘ Clappers’!
The last act that was due on at 3-00am, was another famous ‘Flamenco ‘ singer
with his ensemble. Thank’s to Lucy, for the complementary tickets!
On the way back home I took some pictures
of the village all lit up, including the spectacular new arch into ‘Calle Mar’ and
a ‘ Airstream’ trailer parked in front of the Wine Museum?! The terrace flagging
& painting, was finished earlier in the evening.
For our breakfast this morning I had a
special treat of “ Eggs Benedict “ – the ‘ Spanish’ version, with ‘English’
toast, ‘Spanish’ Smoked Ham & ‘Campo’ Poached Eggs, topped with a classic ‘Bearnaise’
sauce, Brenda had open on brown, cheese & ham ‘’Toastie’s’ - with on the side glasses of Mandarin juice and
my personal fan! – as you can see in the pictures below.
At the moment all along the new ‘ Calle Mar’
the local families are building the individual ‘ Sombrajas ‘ – I will post some
picture later. ( See above )We will be out this evening outside ‘ Bar Castillo’ to take in
the sight s & sounds of the parade as the ‘ Vendemia Wine Festival’
kicks-off! Watch this space.
Meanwhile on the sports front; the early
kick-off in the ‘Premier League’ is Leicester City v Liverpool, later Everton
welcome Huddersfield Town and Manchester City are at home to Newcastle United,
here in ‘La Liga’ Real Madrid welcome Leganes & Barcelona are at home on
Sunday to Huesca. It’s the qualifying at the ‘ Italian Grand Prix’ at Imola, the
home of ‘ Ferrari’ !
Today’s Stage 8 of the ‘La Vuelta 2018 ‘
goes from Linares to Almaden over 195 kms.
The ‘ Chicken & Mushroom Curry ‘ is
ready, the Basmati Rice is being pre-cooked at the moment, our ‘Bar’ is

two days & nights of partying, eating. drinking, dancing & singing!! Watch this space.
