A NOW WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 3rd/ SEPTEMBER 2018  “ MANILVA BANK HOLIDAY “

We had a nice, long lie in this morning, after I was up earlier to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for a sleep over, she’s being collected on Tuesday evening, she shot onto her duvet after her lie in with us, we were awoken by the street-cleaning machine & water wagon, going up & down our street, as the ‘Council’ workmen start the massif job of cleaning up ‘ Calle Mar’ and the side streets after the ‘Vendemia Festival’ – surprisingly as it’s a local ‘ Bank Holiday’ here in sunny Manilva today?!

See below after the first clean up this morning!

During the next few days they will take down all the bunting & extra lighting, remove the two stages and clear the ‘Plaza de la Vendemia’ square, bringing the village back to normal, for now, as on Saturday it’s the Annual ‘Marathon Mountain Bike Race’ around the street and hills of sunny Manilva, all starting in front of the Town Hall, on Saturday morning!

See below;

We will then wait to see what happens to the new street as the new traffic arrangements come into use, we are told, by reliable sources, that they are going to allow Delivery/Emergency vehicles between 10-00am to 2-00pm, Monday to Friday, then no traffic over the weekend, watch this space!!

For our breakfast I had a ‘Toasted Sausage & Fried Egg (Campo) Butty’- Brenda had her usual brown toast with fresh fruit, with mugs of strong tea, to set us up for the week ahead, I then retired to the office/studio to catch up with the news on the ‘WWW’ as well as reading our ‘E-Mails, Facebook Messages etc, before typing/posting today’s Blog.

Tomorrow ‘Percy’ is due to arrive for his three week holiday with us here in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ – ‘Chispa’ has already been in this morning to see her friend and us, no doubt she will be in & out, as usual, over the coming few weeks as she meets Percy! Watch this space.

Yesterday we had a ‘Helluva’ day, out & about, on “ Vendemia Sunday “ Brenda went out, first, as I was getting out brunch ready, to check out what was happening, she came back with a surprise ‘Vendemia’ Hat, she had braved the masses to catch one! The Mayor’s wife, Anna, has two in her house for us, as requested! She was sat in the porch ‘Spanish’ style, on the left, of our close neighbour Marialo, as you can see below, watching all the happenings.

Later after Brunch we went up to ‘Bar Rojas’ and managed to find a seat & table in the shade, the ‘Andalusian Stallions’ parade was a little late, as usual, and when it came along it was led by a ‘Pom-Pom Band’ for the first time, sadly it was not very good this year, as there was only 7/8 horses, not the usual 25/30, a ‘ Black’ mark for the ‘Council’ – which carried on later as the traditional ‘Grape Crushing’ was half an hour late starting, as the three local ‘Caberallero’s’ turned up late, it wouldn’t happen in my time!!

See above a small selection of pictures;

We then came home for a break from the ‘ Masses’ ( see below ) which gets rather hot & sticky to say the least, the ‘ Boy Band ‘ (3) on the stage as the top of our street went down a storm, later on the same stage the ‘ Spanish Pop Band’ was excellent, even doing 2/3 ‘English Rock N’Roll’ songs!

See below the ‘ Boy Band’ in action!

Meanwhile over in North Wales, in Old Colwyn, the Moffatts’ – Tim & Thea were having an ‘Happy Hour’ with some friends, on the special ‘ Bombay Sapphire Gin & Tonics’ using some rather exclusive glasses, engraved Hotel “ 70* ‘ – as you can see!

Today has started a little grey & overcast, no doubt the sun will break through later, it’s due to reach 31 degs+, the rest of the week & over the weekend is staying the same, warm & sunny, with patchy clouds, at times, going a little cooler, as the light breeze come up from the Mediterranean, next week it’s more of the same, but with the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ on one of the forecasts, also getting a little cooler at night, watch this space.

Just a quick update on the sports results from yesterday; Barcelona thrashed Huesca, the ‘La Liga’ newcomers/minnows 2-8! Lewis Hamilton won the ‘Italian Grand Prix’ as he beat Vettel into the first corner, as he slid/spun out, later Hamilton passed the other Ferrari, with an outside pass on the same chicane, superb, fantastic, racing from one of the ‘Pantheon’ of Great Drivers!

Over here in  La Vuelta2018’ in the mountains, Simon Yates managed to take the race leaders ‘ Red’ jersey, by 1 second, going into today’s rest day .Meanwhile over in the first stage of the “ Tour of Britain “ the German sprinter Greipel won his 154th career stage win, as Thomas & Froome came in behind, as the stage finished in South Wales.

Yesterday evening we managed to catch the 3rd episode of the excellent “ Bodyguard “ on BBC TV, as the plot has now turned into a full-on conspiracy, with the Anti-Terrorist Police, MI5 and the Politicians all conspiring against the Home Secretary, as she once/twice seduced the Bodyguard ,again, this time in her Camisole, nearly getting strangled in a late night session!! At the very end there was a terrorist, who set off a ‘bomb blast’ on a conference stage, as the Home Secretary was speaking, is she dead, we don’t know?! Watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
