We managed a little lie in this morning, as
the village was quieter than normal, after freshening up we treated ourselves
to ‘Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – open on Brown for Brenda-smothered
in ‘HP’ Brown sauce, with mugs of strong tea, we then sorted ourselves out, for
the rest of the week ahead, as the weather forecast( Rain) is not looking good
for the next two days, we had a phone call from the local Hospital in Estepona
to let us know that my appointment for an ‘X-Ray’ of my hand, has been
cancelled, for today, as the machine has broken down, which was fortunate, as I
had put the appointment in the ‘Diary’ for tomorrow! They are calling back with
another appointment, watch this space.
This means that we are still going across
to Estepona, first thing in the morning, after wrapping up in the waterproofs,
as I need to go to my Barber, Manuel, for the full-works- which is long
overdue! Brenda will then pop along to the local shops for her essential cosmetics
etc, we are then calling into the Hypermarket ‘ Carrefour’ for some new cooking
dishes, as I dropped some the other day, with my ‘ dodgy’ hand! Lastly we will
call into the ‘La Casa’ for more essentials.
We have just picked up ‘ Scruffy’ for the
day, as both Rose & Adrian have appointments at the ‘Hospital’ past
Marbella for check-ups, we will find out later how long he is with us, tomorrow
morning little princess ‘ Reins’ is back with us for the day in ‘Doggy World Heaven
‘ ‘Chispa’ has been in & out all morning to see us and any of her friends
that are here!
This afternoon I’m going down the main ‘
Medical Centre’ in Sabinillas for my second injection of ‘Vitim B12’ Next week we both have our appointments with
our Doctor, Natalia, for our check-up/reviews, updates. I will not be going out
on my travels down to Sabinillas on Friday morning, for the weekly shopping as
we are in for heavy ‘ April Rain Storms’! Instead I will be out & about on Saturday
morning!!
As forecast, this morning it’s dry, as
overnight, after prolonged heavy rain storms, which started yesterday evening,
have cleared away, as there is a stiff breeze blowing, making it sunny but ‘
crisp’- hovering on the 16 degs+ mark, then over the next two days we are in
for more, heavy Rain Storms & Gales! From Saturday the sun is back in sunny
Manilva, over the weekend and into next week it’s now looking warm & sunny,
reaching 22/23 degs+ at times, with no sign of any of the wet stuff, watch this
space.
This morning we have had problems with the
Gas Boiler, which heats the water and we cook with, I called our Maintenance
man, who came very quickly, after two visits, one from the ‘main man’ all is
back to normal, watch this space.
I then prepared tonight’s supper “ Braised
Slices of Beefsteak “ in a rich, ‘Red Wine, Mushroom & Onion Salsa’- the
slices are dusted in seasoned flour and browned off, I then sautéed the sliced
Onions, and layered them with the Beef slices, I then made the ‘Salsa –
Casserole’ sauce; using chopped Shallots & Garlic, diced Carrots, Turnips,
Leeks & Celery, Baby Mushrooms, a good glug of Brenda’s Red Wine, the
secret ingredients, along with a large spoon of ‘ Tomato Frito’ - with a rich
Beef & Vegetable Stock, before adjusting the seasoning to taste, it then
covers the Beef Slices, ready to go in the oven this evening to finish cooking,
along with Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potatoes’ - with on the side Cabbage with Acelgas(
Swiss Chard) and Glazed Batons of Carrots.
Last night we watched the two second-leg, ‘Quarter
Final’ matches in the ‘UEFA Champions League’ as Liverpool took to Manchester
City a 3 goal lead, in the first half City out-played Liverpool and scored 1
goal, but in the second half Liverpool came back and scored 2 goals, winning
5-1 on aggregate, meanwhile at Roma, Barcelona led 4-1 after the first leg, but
sadly they were totally out-played by Roma and lost 3-0 - making it 4-4 on
aggregate, which meant the Roma won on the away goal rule!
The Spanish press this morning has called
it a ‘ Historical Debacle’ – an abject performance, Barcelona have won the ‘La Liga’
title – it’s nearly wrapped up and this
weekend they play Sevilla in the ‘ Copa del Rey Final’ in Madrid! Watch this
space.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
