A GREY & OVERCAST AND DAMP SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 7th/ APRIL 2018.

We had a little lie in this morning before getting the day on the go, Brenda is washing/shampooing her hair later, for breakfast Brenda did her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for her, with mugs of steaming tea, I then shot on my travels, again, down to Sabinillas for some extra shopping from ‘ Mercadona’ and also the ‘TV Times’ form the ‘English Bookshop’ – yesterday I picked up the ‘ Hello’ magazine, by mistake!

This morning, as forecast, the weather has changed, it’s grey and overcast with a light/cold breeze, the threat of the wet stuff is in the air, which I managed to miss while I was out, later we are in for rain, on Sunday the sun returns, sadly only for the day, as on Monday and for all of next week we are in for more ‘ April’ Showers’ everyday, getting heavy at times, the overall temperatures are hovering on the 16/18 degs+ mark, watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend we are in for a ‘Helluva’ extravaganza!

In the Football there are three ‘ Derby Games ‘ – over in the ‘Premier League’ – the early kick-off is at Everton as they welcome Liverpool, then the late kick-off is at Manchester City when they welcome Manchester Utd, when/if Manchester City win they will become the Champions! Over in the ‘ La Liga’ on Sunday Real Madrid welcome Atletico Madrid!!

Today’s ‘ National Hunt Jump Racing’ comes from Kempton Park, meanwhile over in Australia the ‘Commonwealth Games’ is taking place in the’ Gold Coast’ – the second ‘ Grand Prix’ of the season is taking place, under the floodlights in Bahrain, meanwhile down in Georgia, at the spectacular and beautiful ‘ Augusta National Golf Club’ the ‘ US Masters Tournament ‘ is up to Day 3 later.

Then on Sunday up in France it’s the 116th edition of the classic ‘ Paris-Roubaix’ one-day Cycle race, “ The Hell of the North “ is one of the oldest and one of the most difficult one-day races with riders having to endure a daunting gauntlet of cobbled sections, over 257 kms!

Yesterday evening we had a ‘surprise’ visitor, our old friend ‘ Mano’ who we have not seen since Xmas, called in, just as I was about the cook our supper, his wife Anna, is in the ‘UK’ looking after their grandson, he had dropped in the day before to say ‘ Hello’ – so he joined us for his ‘ Fish n’ Chip ‘ supper – I always have more than we need! We then watched the ‘ Masters Golf’ which we are able to follow on our Multi-Channel TV System. He’s coming around this evening to watch the ‘Manchester City’ Derby game, as he’s a very big fan of them, along with his son Carlos, who is working down at the ‘ La Taberna’ in Castillo de la Duquesa, so will miss the game!

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘ Entrecote’ Steak’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest, before slicing it into fingers ‘French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spear, Button Mushrooms & Baby Shallots, with Whole Baby French Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – a classic ‘ ‘Bearnaise’ sauce on the side, I have a ’standby’ Steak, if Mano want’s to say for his ‘ Steak Supper’

On Sunday, for a change, we are not ‘ Roasting’ – we are having ‘ Baked English Pork Chops’ with glazed ‘ Fuji’ Apple slices, with a large selection of fresh local vegetables and our favourite ‘ Lyonnaise Potatoes’

Later this evening after supper we will be watching the last two back to back episodes of the Danish crime drama, with sub-titles “ Below the Surface”

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
