I was up very early this morning and after
a quick freshen up I shot off on my travels down to Sabinillas, my first port
of call was at the main ‘ Medical Centre’ for my Blood/Urine tests, while I was
there I made the appointment to see our Doctor, Natalia, in a week’s time, for
all the results, I then carried on to ‘ Mercadona’ for our main shop, I had a
short walk to the ‘English Bookshop’ for the local English newspapers and a ‘special’
birthday card.
It was then time to go along the coast road
to the main office of ‘ Helicopteros
Sanitarios ‘ to pay the half-yearly membership fee, for our ‘Emergency Health
Care’ cover, next on my route I dropped down into ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ to
call into the ‘English Butchers’ for ‘Gammon Steaks, Homemade Pork Sausages, Smoked Back Bacon’
& two large ‘Pork Chops’ for Sunday’s supper, I also picked up some
essentials, ‘Saxa Salt, Goose Fat, Apple & Horseradish’ sauce.
I then called into the ‘Florists’ in the
marina, for a small display Basket, as it’s Daniela’s 40th birthday
on Monday, her party is not until the end of the month at the new Villa, I also
picked up a little plant for Paqui, Juan’s wife, from ‘Bar Castillo’ as she’s
convalescing after a ‘ Ladies Operation’ down at their ‘ Campo’ – on the way
back I went along to the far end of the promenade in Sabinillas, to the local
market for our fresh flowers & wall plants, it was then time to come back
up the hill, through the Vine fields, which are just showing the first green
buds, on the old ground vines, after this week’s sun!

Back at the house after unpacking I had my first
mug of the tea and toast of the day, ‘Chispa’ is calling in all the time, to
see us and her friends, when they are here, we have a quiet weekend in ‘Doggy
World Heaven’ – next week little princess ‘ Reina’ is back with us for just two
days, on Monday/ Tuesday, ‘Chispa’ has been ‘ Scalped’ by the local Vets, in
the village, they don’t groom the dogs, she looks like a ‘ Scared Rabbit’!
This morning the forecasted rain has not
yet appeared, it’s still grey & overcast with a little breeze, the sun is
trying to break through, it’s due to reach 19 degs+ by lunchtime, tomorrow the
wet stuff is back and we then have a couple of clear days before more ‘ April
Showers’ for the rest of next week, hovering on the 15/16 degs+ mark, the rest
of April, on the long-range forecast dosn’t look much better!! Watch this
space.
For our supper this evening we are having ‘Deep-Fried
Goujons of Hake Fillet’ – using local breadcrumbs from the Bakery, with lots of
Lemon Wedges and homemade ‘Tartar ‘ sauce, with ‘ Mushy Green Peas’ and
twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – posh ‘ Fish’n Chips’!
On Saturday it’s a large ‘ Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left rest, before slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style. For Sunday’s supper, for a change we are having ‘Baked Pork Chops’ with all the trimmings.

Over in Australia Lyn’s daughter ‘Debs’ –
who is into horses, has had a picture of her with one of her horses, featured on
the front cover of a National ‘Horse Magazine ‘ – they asked before publishing
the picture, see the front cover below! A
‘ Star’ is born!!
This evening after supper we will channel
hop and try and find a good film to watch.
Thoughts for the Day; See above.
