A ' CRISP' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 15th/ APRIL 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning, Brenda showered first, I’m having my shower later, we then had our regular light breakfast of just toast & tea before getting this evenings supper on the go.

We are having ‘ Grilled Marinated Spanish Lamb Steaks & Cutlets’ – they are marinated in Sea Salt, Black Peppercorn & Tarragon with Virgin Olive Oil, I will cook then this evening on a very hot griddle-plate – ‘Med-Rare’ - Pink no blood! I then made a large dish of our favourite & famous ‘ Boulangere’ Potatoes, hand-cut layers of sliced Potatoes & Onions, seasoned on each layer((3) – each layer thinner to the top, before adding a rich Chicken & Vegetable stock, the dish is then sealed with tin-foil ready to go in the oven this evening, as it cooks I take off the tin-foil and dot the top of the dish with knobs of Butter, before it goes back in the oven to crisp up! The ‘ Vegetable Chef’ who earlier peeled the potatoes, is preparing sliced Brussels Sprouts, glazed Carrot Batons, Cauliflower Florets in a Cheese Sauce & Garden Peas, a small sauceboat of our special ‘ Mint’ sauce on the side! ‘( Sugar & Wine Vinegar)

This morning the sun was out early and the sky is already bright blue, the clouds have now cleared and there is just a very light breeze, by lunchtime it will be 20/21 degs+ - next week, for the first five days is now looking warm & sunny, reaching 22/23 degs+ - then over the weekend it’s going a little cooler, again, and we could have some of the wet stuff returning, watch this space.

See below the sunrise this morning over the Mediterranean.

Yesterday evening we had a nice news update from Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, Sandra is still not fully recovered, she has a lingering cough & low grade fever, her specialist switched the antibiotics and she is starting to improve, get back to normal soon!  This weekend they are expecting and bracing themselves for a severe ‘ Ice Storm ‘ – that could be crippling and knock out the electricity! They are keeping a low profile over the weekend, take care ‘ Spring’ is just round the corner!

See below “ Springtime in Canada “ !!

Just a quick update on all the sports results; Everton could only draw 1-1, Manchester City won 1-3 and Liverpool won 3-0, over here Barcelona won 2-1 and are now unbeaten in ‘La Liga’ in 39 matches!( a new record) Over at the ‘ Chinese Grand Prix’ in a chaotic race Hamilton could only manage 4th as Daniel Ricciardo won, at the ‘ Grand National ‘ at Aintree, “ Tiger Roll “ ridden by the veteran Dave Russell, won in a photo finish, by a short-head!

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the first, back to back, episode of the second series of the Belgium thriller/ crime drama  “ Salamander; Blood Diamonds “ with sub-tiles as it’s in French & Flemish!  You have to have seen the first series to know some of the characters and the story, it all kicked-off in Africa, as a murderous and treacherous general killed at will, a Belgium pilot was ferrying diamonds back to Belgium, as well as a memory stick, five years later the Belgium Detective ( Felip Peeters’ ) is on the case as there is a murder, the killer is also murdered, the plot deepens, the  Belgium Prime Minister is mixed up in the old ‘ Salamander’ organisation, with strange ‘ hand signals’ - going back to World War 2, a multi-national company is also trying to hide the secrets, there are ‘ baddies ‘ all over the place, including spies, Diamond smugglers, and the Detective has a daughter at university, who is being followed and his lady friend has a past connection?!  Watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
