A VERY OVERCAST, COLD & WET SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 4th/ FEBRUARY 2018.       “ FRIENDS DAY “

We managed a little lie in this morning and after a quick freshen up and then tea & toast we sorted our day out, overnight we had a rain storm, that was not forecasted, the temperatures have also dropped to 3/4 degs overnight, this is the coldest weather that we have had since we arrived down here back in 2006! We then got today’s ‘ Roast’ on the go.

At the moment it’s grey & overcast with storm clouds, there is a light breeze and it’s very ‘Crisp’ outside our front door! Definitely a ‘stay at home’ day as by this afternoon it’s only going to reach 11/12 degs, next week we are in for a cold, damp & windy week down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – very unseasonal for the time of the year, going even colder overnight and only reaching 12 degs max, - the rain is also due to hit us nearly every day next week, watch this space.

See below a picture of the ‘ Menai Suspension Bridge ‘ over the ‘Menai Strait’s ‘ – taken from the shore of Anglesey, looking towards the snow-capped peaks of ‘ Snowdonia ‘

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘  little princess ‘ Reina’ is with us for four days from Monday to Thursday, on Wednesday ‘ Scruffy’ is here for a sleep-over and then on Friday evening ‘ Chico’ is back for another weeks holiday, as usual ‘ Chispa’ has been crashing in & out and no doubt will be calling in to see all her friends.

On Monday evening we are going around to our local surgery as we have our appointments with the ‘ Chiropodist ‘- no other appointments next week, I will be out on my travels down in Sabinillas on Friday morning for our weekly shopping.

For our supper this evening we are having a ‘ Roast Chicken ‘ – fresh & local – which I have just roasted, I take the legs, thighs & wings off first, then I rub all the Chicken in Lemon Juice & Sea Salt before it all goes in the roasting tray with lots of ‘Trivets’ – basting all the time, after it’s cooked I make my famous finger-licking Pan Gravy from the roasting tray, I then cooked the ‘ Mixed Herb Stuffing ‘ in the still hot oven!

Meanwhile the ‘ Vegetable Chef’ has excelled herself; ‘ Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Honey Glazed Carrot Batons, Baby Brussels Sprouts ( local ) Creamed Leeks & Garden Peas’ as well as our famous ‘ Goose Fat’  Roast Potatoes, which are par-boiled first.

We watched the other night ‘ Great American Railroad Journeys ‘ with Michael Portillo as he reached Toronto, Canada, he first saw the large engineering works taking place under ‘ Union Station ‘ – next he opened the ‘ Toronto Stock Exchange’ before going up the famous ‘ CN Tower’  to walk around the roof, what a view and experience! He stayed at the famous grand old railway hotel, the ‘ Fairmont Royal York Hotel’ before ending up in ‘ High Park’ signing the National Anthem of Canada! It was very interesting to see Toronto, this evening we are due to make contact, via the ‘ Skype ‘ video with Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, so we will have plenty to talk about! See below.

Just a quick update on the sports results; Arsenal beat Everton 5-1 and Real Madrid could only draw 2-2 with lowly Levante, Great Britain are losing in the ‘ Davis Cup Tennis’ to Spain, taking place just down the cost in Marbella, on the clay-courts, down in Cardiff, in the ‘ Six Nations Rugby Union’ Wales out-thought, out-fought, outplayed & out-coached, Scotland to humiliate them 34-7! – but the ‘ Match of the Day’ was in Paris as Ireland beat France 13-15 in the 84th minute, with a brilliant drop-goal by Johnny Sexton!!

Last night after supper we watched the final two-part, back to back, episodes of the excellent French police drama “ Spiral 6 “ – as it finished, the police walked away with a big win, all the ‘ Baddies’ confessed, one of the corrupt cops shot himself, the killer was captured along with his nasty wife, but one of the ‘good guy’ cops resigned, the lady cop absconded, leaving her baby in hospital and her lover, another cop with problems, was left outside the hospital holding a giant panda for company! Oh, and yes, the lady lawyer ended up in goal for attempting to murder her boss, and the – ‘ill’ judge was forced to retire!!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
