A BEAUTIFUL THURSDAY HERE IN SUNNY MANILVA.

THURSDAY 22nd/ FEBRUARY 2018.

I was up first this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she, as usual, shot upstairs into her duvet, we then sorted ourselves out for the day ahead, after a quick freshen up we had our regular light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ toast & tea, we then got the shopping list ready for tomorrow morning when I’m out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping.

We then shot out down to ‘Puerto de la Duquesa’ to check out the apartment that Sandra & Bill have booked for the end of October, sadly we were not able to find the correct ‘Estate Agents’ that the folks have booked with, the one we thought it was, was not! We then tried 5/6 more ‘Estate Agents’ around the marina, all with no luck, we asked for ‘ Julie, who Sandra has spoken to via E-Mail, all with no luck!! So it’s ‘ Plan B’ – on Sunday, when we speak to the folks over in Canada, on the Skype video we will confirm the details and then try again next week, watch this space.

We went down the back road past the ‘ Manilva Green Aparthotel ‘ and down to the main school, this morning, after many years of chasing the ‘ Council’ have finally stated to put new pavements down both side of the street, they are also replacing the old flagging in the other parts at the start, which means that they are drilling & digging up the old pavement in front of the ‘ Castle Radio ‘ Studio 1! On yesterday’s ‘Breakfast Show’ with Andrew  Charles, all you could hear was the drilling, so this morning’s show was broadcast from/by Pete Black from Studio 3!

See below the problem!

We have another very nice morning down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – the sun broke through earlier and the sky is bright blue, there is just a very light breeze ( 5 km/h) making it very pleasant when you are out & about, by lunchtime it’s due to reach 17/18degs+ - tomorrow is going to be the same, if a little cooler, as the ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in, then over the weekend we are in for more of the same, next week is still going to be unsettled, colder, windy and damp, watch this space.

We are now totally cut-off as the ‘ Contractors’ start work on ‘ Phase 2’ of the ‘ Calle Mar ‘  redevelopment – the street down to the junction has been ripped up and they have started laying the new drains/water supply pipes, the one side that was open is now closed, so we have to go along the top terrace and then across the ‘ Plaza de la Vendemia ‘ to get out! The delivery vans are having great difficulty getting their goods into the shops & bars, we are still able to come up to the house through the back streets, in the car, with the weekly shopping!

For our supper this evening we are having  ‘Seared Minute Steaks’  - made with flattened slices of ‘Entrecote Steak’- seasoned with Sea Salt & crushed Black Peppercorns, ‘ flash-cooked’ on a very hot griddle plate, 30 seconds a side, maximum, then topped with ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs, with hand-cut, twice-cooked ‘ Stringfellows ‘ and finely sliced, local, Green Beans, not forgetting the ‘ Dijon Mustard’ on the side!

Friday is going to be a ‘ Fish’ supper, depending on the market selection, then on Saturday it’s our usual ‘ Steak Night’ and then on Sunday, no roast, as we are having one of our old favourites, a “ Smoked Chicken & Three Green Bean Risotto “ for a change.

This evening after supper we will channel hop and find something to watch.
