A VERY ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 3rd / FEBRUARY 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning as the village is very quiet, after freshening up Brenda treated me to her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast,( see below!) - with a mug of steaming tea, she had her favourite ‘Campo’ Boiled Egg with Toast fingers, we are ‘Doggy Free’ this weekend so we will go out later for a short walk to take in the very ‘ Crisp’ fresh air & sunshine.

Later this morning the ‘ Council’ are opening the first ‘ Doggy Park ‘ in the area, down in Sabinillas, see below.

This morning has started bright & sunny, the sky is bright blue and sun was out early, there is a little breeze, so it’s ‘Crisp’ by warm in the sunshine, by lunchtime it will reach 14 degs+ On Sunday it starts to go a little cooler, as the ‘ Arctic’ front comes in, the start of next week is the same with the temperatures hovering on the 12 degs- mark, down to 3/5 degs overnight, there is also still the threat of some of the wet stuff on Thursday, next weekend is looking the same. cold but sunny, watch this space.

At lunchtime we went for a short walk and ended up at ' Bar Rojas' sat outside in the very hit sunshine, for a nice cool drink, Monica gave us a sample of her ' House Paella ' - which was very tasty!

A busy weekend ahead on the sports front; at the moment down here in sunny Marbella at the ‘ Punte Romano Tennis Club ‘ it’s the ‘Davis Cup Tennis’ as Spain welcome Great Britain, in ‘ La Liga’ Real Madrid travel to Levante and it’s the ‘Derby Game’ as Espanyol welcome Barcelona on Sunday; over in the ‘ Premier League’ in the UK Burnley welcome Manchester City & Everton travel down the M1 to play Arsenal, on Sunday Tottenham Hotspur come up the M1 to play Liverpool.

Today see the start of the ‘ Six Nations Rugby Union ‘ as Wales welcome Scotland, under the roof, down in Cardiff, at the ‘ Principality Stadium ‘ – meanwhile over in Paris, France welcome Ireland and then tomorrow England fly to play Italy. This afternoon we will also be watching the ‘ National Hunt Racing’ from Sandown Park.

For our supper this evening we are having a large ‘ Grilled Entrecote Steak’ cooked in a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare – Pink ‘ – then left to rest, before slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with Seared Asparagus Spears & Button Mushrooms, accompanied with a sauceboat of the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce, served with Whole ‘ French’ Green Beans and another classic ‘ Pont Neuf’ – twice-cooked ‘ Door Step’ Chips!

On Sunday we are roasting, a fresh, local ‘Chicken’ - rubbed with Lemon Juice & Sea Salt, with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing, a selection of fresh, local vegetables and of course my now famous ‘ Goose Fat Roast Potatoes’ and finger-licking Pan Gravy!

After supper we will settle down to watch the final two, back to back, episodes of the excellent French police drama, based in Paris, “ Spiral 6 “ -  the sub-titles are also easy to read, as the three stories come together.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
