A VERY ' COLD' & ' CRISP' SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 5th/ FEBRUARY 2018.

I was up early this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for the day, she’s with us for four days this week, she shot upstairs and had a nice lie in with us before going in her duvet, after a quick shower we had our regular breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, we have a quiet week, this evening we are going down to the local surgery for our appointment with the Chiropodist, then on Friday I will be out on my travels down to Sabinillas for the weekly shopping, in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ ‘Scruffy’ is with us for a sleep-over on Wednesday evening, then on Friday ‘ Chico’ is back with us for another weeks holiday, otherwise it’s definitely a ‘stay at home’ week, see below!

Overnight it’s been the coldest we have ever experienced, since we arrived down on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ back in 2006, 3/4 degs, only rising to a max 12 degs later today, outside our front door it’s very cold with a slight breeze blowing up the street, the sky is blue with light clouds, at the moment the sun has broken through, but it's still very ' Crisp' - to say the least, the rest of the week is staying the same, even getting colder at times, the threat of the wet stuff has gone away, for now, next week, on the forecast, is not looking much better with the rain also due back, watch this space.

Yesterday evening we spoke to Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Skype’ video, the snow has returned and Bill had been out working on the snow-ploughs clearing car parks, slip roads etc, the ‘ Company’ does contract work for business’s, car parks, hospitals & homes, when we tell them about our temperatures they laugh, it’s ‘ shirt-sleeve’ weather to them! We had a good catch up with all their news, we talked a lot about Canada as we have been watching, with interest, the ‘ Great American Railroad Journeys’ with Michael Portillo as he reached their part of Canada.

They are starting to make plans to come back over to Spain, for two weeks, at the end of October, Sandra has booked her holidays, they are checking the flights, the other day we checked out for them an apartment complex they had spotted online, down in Sabinillas, we have also given them a couple of names of letting agencies, they are planning to stay down here on the ' Costa Del Sol' and then go out and explore Andalucia more, going up to Cadiz/Sevilla. The other day they received a official looking letter from Spain, it was a small fine as they had driven the wrong way down a street in Madrid, it's a small world ! Watch this space.

Canada is a huge country with six time zones, they follow ‘Ice Hockey’ – their team is the ‘ Toronto Maple Leafs’ ( I think, sorry, as there lots of teams!)  which they are going to see on ‘Valentine’s’ Day, they drive into the suburbs and then catch the very efficient street-car/tram system into the centre of the city, Sandra’s son Neil lives and works in Toronto, her daughter Alanna, lives, studies & works in Ottawa. See below.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Cold Roast Chicken’ – we love ‘ cold-cuts’ of roast meat, with all the leftover vegetables and ‘ ‘Goose Fat’ Roast Potatoes, the menu’s for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend are yet to be agreed/planned, watch this space. No doubt it’s the time for lots of warming ‘ comfort food’ – watch this space.

Last night after supper we watched the penultimate episode of ‘ McMafia’ on BBC TC 1 – a taut hour of uncertainty ending on a cliffhanger, the ‘hero’ set up a meeting in Istanbul with the Russian criminal boss with the intention of making peace, after his girlfriend was shot in London, she survived, but our ‘ hero’ was double-crossed by his Israeli ‘backer’ – who he had blackmailed earlier in the series, the Russian boss set up a ‘ hit’ on him in London, that was ‘ Aborted’ at the last minute. Then at the very end the Russian boss’s daughter was shot & killed outside a nightclub in Moscow, but by whom, just as our ‘ hero’ was setting off to Moscow to try and make peace again, vicious retaliation is in the air, as he flies into Vadim’s clutches, we can expect next week’s finale to be a very explosive affair!

Thought s for the Day; See above.
