A VERY ' CRISP' BUT WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 14th FEBRUARY 2018.    “ VALENTINES DAY “

I was up early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ with us for the day, we had mixed up when she was with us, we thought it was tomorrow for two days, anyway she shot upstairs and claimed her spot on the bed and ‘ Chico’ – the gentleman that he is, dropped down onto his bed! We then all had a little lie in before getting the day on the go, after freshening up we took ‘ Chico’ for his first walk of the day.

When we returned we had our normal light breakfast of ‘ Weetabix’ fresh fruit, toast & tea, Brenda is catching up with the chores and I’m up in the office/studio on the ‘WWW’- I catch up with the ‘E-Mails, Facebook messages etc’ before reading all the online newspapers and watching some news broadcasts from around the world, last night as we were going to bed on the Toronto TV Station ‘ CNN’ they had a ‘ live broadcast’ from ‘Bourbon Street ‘ in New Orleans’ showing the ‘Mardi-Gras’ parade! It brought back some very happy memories from back in the late 70s when we ‘hit’ New Orleans to see some friends who lived there, on our journey across America from Miami to Los Angeles! Now that’s another story!!

See below ‘ Bourbon Street’- last night!

The sun was out early this morning and the sky has cleared and is bright blue, there is a slight breeze keeping it still ‘ crisp’ in the shade but warm on the sunny side of the street, reaching 17/18degs by lunchtime, tomorrow it’s going to be even warmer, hovering on the 19/20degs+ mark, the rest of the week and over the weekend is also now staying dry & sunny, next week is sadly not looking as good, it’s going a little colder and the wet stuff in going to return, watch this space.

While I was on the ‘ WWW’ earlier this morning I finally managed to speak to Thea & Tim up in Mojacar, on the ‘ Facebook Messenger Video’ system, they were down in Mojacar Playa with some old friends from Old Colwyn, who have been visiting them, we are going to have a good catch-up chat, later this afternoon.

At lunchtime, today, we are having a ‘Avocado, Prawn & Crab Cocktail’ with Brenda’s famous, homemade ‘ Marie Rose’ sauce, as our starter, before this evenings ‘ Valentines Day ‘ supper!

For our main course it’s going to be ‘ Pan-Seared Medallions of Pork Fillet’ accompanied with a creamy ‘Green Peppercorn ( sorry I couldn’t find any Pink ones!)  salsa, together with Whole, local, fine Green Beans and as requested by Brenda, my special ‘ Breton Style’ Potatoes ( diced, boiled potatoes tossed with sautéed  diced, Shallots, Red & Green Peppers, that I cooked-off this morning) – for our dessert Brenda has made her favourite ‘ Strawberry Jelly’ in our ‘ posh’ dessert glasses!

See below last nights ' Shrove Tuesday' - ' House Crepe ' served on our vert special hand-made ' Villeroy & Boch ' - 'Strawberry Plate' - that I designed for the ' Hotel Seventy Degrees' - Horizon Suite Restaurant ' back in the late 70s, I had 100 made, this is the only one remaining !!

As we set off for our lunchtime walk with ' Chico' the ' Contractors' workmen had just started drilling/digging up the street outside ' Bar Rojas ' - the street, under your feet, and the house's are shaking, ' Calle Mar' is now totally closed, ' Bar Rojas' had to cancel their 'Valentines Day ' celebrations!

Yesterday afternoon we caught up with the new four-part  compelling ‘ BBC’ political drama starring Carey Mulligan & John Simms, via the ‘ BBC I-Player’ – it started with a murder/shooting but then developed into a story that shows the impact that the death has on a group of interconnected characters, it even revealed, at the end of the first episode, who the ‘Killer’ is! Watch this space.

We were then going to watch the next episode of ‘Trauma’ over on ‘ITV’ but the online TV system went off-line just as it started! I tried all the tricks to re-set the system, with no luck, so this evening when Lee collects ‘Reina’ he’s going to help to sort the problem out,  we will then catch the final episode later this evening, so instead we caught, via the ‘ BBC I-Player’ the first episode’ (of the six-part)  return of the acclaimed detective drama set up in the Scottish archipelago “ Shetland “ which we have not seen before, we will have to catch up with all the characters, then main detective is played by Douglas Henshall, he has to deal with a murder from the past along with one from the present, which have unsettling similarities, it’s all getting rather exciting, one not to miss, watch this space.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
