A ' BRISK ' & SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 8th/ FEBRUARY 2018.

I was up first this morning to see little princess ‘ Reina’ back with us for her last day this week, she shot upstairs and managed to find a space on the bed, as ‘ Scruffy’ was already there, he slept all night in his bed and then as usual came and joined us first thing this morning, we then all had a little further lie in, he could be with us for a few more days as Adrian has gone into the ‘Costa Del Sol Hospital’ earlier this morning, for his long waited for Hip-Replacement operation and Rose is still not right after her Hernia operation, tomorrow ‘Chico’ is due back with us for another weeks holiday, he’s being dropped off first thing in the morning as the folks have to catch their flight to the UK. A busy weekend ahead in ‘ Doggy World Heaven ‘ again!

We then after a quick freshen up took ‘ Scruffy’ out for his first walk of the day, on the way back we called into the local fruit/vegetable shop and bought local ‘Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Broad Beans and Peas in the Pod’ before coming home for our breakfast, I had a toasted ‘Sausage (English Pork)Butty’  smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce and Brenda had Cheese ( a Gouda slice) on Toast, with mugs of steaming tea, to warm us up, as it’s a little ‘ brisk’ this morning!

The sun has managed to break through and the sky is clearing with signs of a blue sky, there is no breeze but it’s still very cold, 9 degs at the moment and due to reach only 12 degs by lunchtime, it’s still very pleasant in the sunshine, the threat of the wet stuff has gone away and the forecast for the next few days and over the weekend is for more of the same, even getting a little warmer by Sunday, the overnight temperatures are still down in the 3/6 degs mark, next week is now also ‘ rain-free’ and with more of the same weather as now, watch this space.

See below the view from the beach down in Sabinillas this morning  and the ‘ Puerto de la Duquesa’ marina.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Omelettes of Choice ‘ ( Campo Eggs!)  – two Cheeses for Brenda & Mushroom for me, with the Broad Beans & Peas and Baked Potatoes, on Friday it’s going to be ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet’ –using local breadcrumbs from the Bakery, with Mushy Peas and , of course, twice-cooked ‘ Diced Frits – ‘ Parmentiere’ style’  Saturday is ‘ ‘Steak Night’  - which I’m calling into the ‘English Butchers’ - tomorrow morning on my travels, for the weekly shopping, to find possibly ‘ Rib-Eye ‘ steaks ( or Sirloins, see below!) for a change, and two large ‘English Pork Chops’ with the Kidney left on, for our ‘Sunday Special’ as well as some other ‘ goodies’!

See below this morning’s display at the ‘English Butchers’ in Puerto de la Duquesa’ -  we still have our ‘Loin of Pork’  from our Xmas order, which we are going to have at Easter!

See below some pictures taken yesterday of the unusual snow fall on the coast of North Wales, in Porthmadog Harbour and the ‘ Ffestinigog & Welsh Highland Railway’  - it brings back memories of the only snow fall we had at the ‘Hotel Seventy Degrees’ on the cliffs above Colwyn Bay, once in 13 years! Inland, a mile away, at our house it could be 2/3 feet thick and of course all the mountains of ‘Snowdonia’ are covered all over Winter.

Last night’s ‘ Great American Railroad Journeys’ with Michael Portillo reached the city of San Francisco; sadly when we went to America many years ago we didn’t manage to get as far as the city, as we had planned, due to the ‘ gas-strikes’ at the time, we had to slow down on our drive across the country from Miami to Los Angeles ( that’s another story!) He went on the famous cable car system, ate a ‘ Crab & Clam Chowder ‘ on Fisherman’s Wharf, heard about the history of the ‘Golden Gate Bridge’

After supper we watched the final episode of the two-part, the last in this year’s series, of the excellent ‘ Silent Witness ‘ as the team discovered who did the massacre of the family on Christmas Day and why! Watch it to find out !!

Happy memories of our private visit to the family 'Chateau de Bollinger ' outside the village of Ay in the Champagne region, flown over by private jet, many years ago, when we drank the 'Bollinger Rose Le Grande Annee' with our dessert!!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
