A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 18th/ MAY 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 65 “

We all ( including Bella) had a little lie in this morning after a late night going to bed, we were watching the late movie ( Educating Rita) - as we came upstairs into the office/studio I noticed that Lyn was online, on ‘ Facebook’ - over in Melbourne, Australia, so we called her on the video link up, for a surprise chat, she had just got up, she is following all our news on the Blog, as usual, we then caught up with all her news, she has been to see Annette & Debs, for a ‘ Girls’ lunch, with all their dogs.

After freshening up, as usual, on a Monday morning I was on the breakfast rota so I had a ‘ Dockers Butty’ – a ‘Toasted (thick white sliced bread!) Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite seared/sliced Baby Mushrooms, tossed in the bacon juices with a knob of Butter, some of which ended up inside my Butty, with mugs of hot/steaming Tea on the side.

We were listening to the ‘ Lockdown’ Party show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ as the ‘ Mystery Voice’ Quiz came on, Brenda guessed it first, it was the famous actress Olivia Colman, so we are in the draw, again, at the start of the week.

After breakfast we ‘masked/gloved’ up and took little ‘ Miss Bella’ out for her first walk of the day, in our ‘Pensioners’ time slot from 10-00 am to 12-00 noon, I called into the local Bank in ‘Calle Mar’ for some cash, we then walked down ‘ Calle Iglasia’ to see if the small Monday market, on the ‘ Plaza Pozo Del Rey’ in the centre of the village was open ( for flowers & wall plants) - sadly it was not!

‘Miss Bella’ is now with us until Friday lunchtime, as Leah is going to go down to Sabinillas for our main shopping ( for the last time) on Friday morning, before she finally moves into her new apartment in Gibraltar on Saturday, when she is then returning her long-lease rental car, as she dosn’t need a car in Gibraltar, so it saves on all of her weekly travelling/insurance & expenses/petrol etc, as well as the parking spot fee in the complex, all this week she is working, as usual ( Monday to Wednesday)  so she is moving all her stuff across each day, her son is staying with friends in ‘Sotogrande’ while this is all happening, she will hire a local car when she needs one.

Over in Liverpool at the Pier Head – “ RFA Tiderace “ is a Tide-class replenishment tanker of the ' British Fleet Auxillary ' -  berthed for a week.

As forecast, this morning it’s ‘ fresh’ and very sunny, with a clear blue cloudless sky, with just a very slight breeze, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 23 degs+ - overnight down to 15/16 degs+ - the rest of the week is staying the same, hot and very sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, with light ‘ Fresh’ breezes, hovering in the mid 20s, up to 27 degs+ by the coming weekend, next week is now looking very similar,  going warmer, at times, watch this space.

Meanwhile over in North Wales at the world famous  ‘Bodnant Gardens’ in ‘ Tal-y-Cafn ‘ the spectacular ‘ Laburnum’ Arch has come into full-bloom, sadly this year not open to the public!

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

So ‘ Phase 1 ‘ starts today, we are waiting to see who opens here in the village, at the moment there is now sign of any action, except for ‘Bar Luque’ ( which we don’t use) who has put just 4 tables & chairs out, spaced as required, hopefully ‘ Bar Castillo’ & Bar Rojas Sol Vida’ will follow, watch this space.

The ‘ National Governments’  spokesman ,up in Madrid has now announced that they are planning to scrap all the timetables for exercise in municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants ( sunny Manilva ?!) during all the ‘ Phases’ – at the same time they are going to make it obligatory, beyond just on public transportation, to wear face masks ( great!) – as well as of course still seeking to extend the ‘Lockdown’ for another month  from May 28th  ( great also! ) now, until the end of June, Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having the ‘ Roast Lemon Chicken’ – cold-sliced, with all the leftover Vegetables and Roast Potatoes, tomorrow it’s going to be ‘ Baked Pork Loin Steaks’ – on Wednesday a ‘ Braised Beef Casserole’ with Mashed Potatoes, Thursday will be ‘ Grilled Chicken Wings’ - as usual on Friday a ‘ Fish N’ Chip supper, then on Saturday our regular ‘ Steak Night’ – Sunday is still TBC! Watch this space.

Last night after supper we watched the next very exciting and gripping episode of the excellent ‘ Killing Eve ‘ as Villanelle returned to her home in Russia and killed most of her family ( 3-4+?!)
