A VERY ' FRESH' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE STARTY OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 25th/ MAY 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 72 “

Just a little lie in this morning before we freshened up and got another week in LOCKDOWN’ on the go! As it’s Monday morning I was on the breakfast rota so I had my favourite “ Dockers Butty “ – a ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty ‘ – smothered in ‘HP’ Brown sauce, open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite sliced/seared Button Mushrooms, tossed in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, some of which ended up inside my Butty, with mugs of hot/strong Tea, helping to wash them down!

As usual we were listening to the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ as this morning ‘ Mystery Voice’ Quiz came on, - it was a true mystery, as his voice is never heard, speaking slowly, except when he yelling at reporters! I guessed, correctly, the first correct answer this morning, it was the ‘Spin Doctor/Special Advisor’ ( for the UK PM – Boris Johnson) – “ Dominic Cummings “ !

At the start of the week we have another beautiful day here in sunny Manilva, there is a light breeze so the clouds are clearing and the sky is blue, by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 23/24 degs+ - overnight down to 18/19 degs+ - the rest of the week is looking the same, with a few patchy clouds at times, with lots of warm sunshine, hovering in the mid 20s, by the coming weekend going back up into the high 20s – 27 degs+ - next week  is now looking like we are in for more of the same, for the start of June, with light breezes keeping it a little cooler, with sunshine every day, hovering in the mid/high 20s, watch this space.

As you can see below we have a very clear day with spectacular views across to Gibraltar, taken from the ‘ Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort’ this morning.

Overnight we had a nice long new update from Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Facebook Messenger’ – as you saw the other day they have been up to ‘Hope Bay’ - over the weekend, they are going back this coming weekend, to finish the decking and work on the garden around the plot, on which the trailer is now level and hooked up to the services.

Meanwhile in Ottawa Alanna is starting her new job, today, on a three month contract, with a company ‘Proof Reading, Editing Proposals & Quality Assurance’ - for the National Government.

We have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video link up over the weekend of the 6/7 June, as they don’t have any internet connections up in Hope Bay!

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

The main news today, which is giving us a little concern, is yesterday’s daily update, issued by the ‘Junta de Andalucia’ from the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ showing that the confirmed contact cases of ‘ Covid 19 ‘ here in sunny Manilva, has now gone up to ‘ 9’ from ‘ 3’ - over the past few days – showing that we still need to be still in ‘Lockdown’ as well as staying inside at all times, and of course ‘masking/gloving ‘ up when we are out & about for our local shopping/medicines etc, especially as we are in the ‘ Pensioner’ age rules! Watch this space.

PS; I have just had a phone call, as it happens, from the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ arranging a consultation, next Monday at 1 00pm on the phone, with the ‘ Prostate Consultant’ for my six-month review! “ RESULT’ as it also means the Hospital has our new landline number!!

This evening for our supper we are having ‘ Escalope of Pork Schnitzels’ – made with the tail-ends of the ‘Pork Fillet’- flattened and coated in breadcrumbs from the local Bakery, shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil, until crisp & golden, topped with a ‘ Campo’ Fried Egg – ‘ Holstein’ style, accompanied with lots of Lemon Wedges and served with ‘ Spaghetti Milanese’ and finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans. The ‘ Menu’s for the rest of the week are still ‘TBC’ – watch this space.

See below a happy ‘ Food’ memory from my past, when at ‘Primary School ‘ – “ St Johns The Evangelist”  on ‘Rice Lane’ – below Orrell Park, behind the Church, where my Mum & Dad were married and buried and where I was born and lived in ‘Trevor Road’

We used to go along the ‘ Queens Drive Baths’( see blow) for swimming lessons, on the way back outside the baths at the bus stop, was a ‘ Cake Shop’ serving amongst many treats ‘  Wet Nelly’ – a local Liverpool favourite, a moist version of ‘ Nelson Cake’ a Lancashire fruit cake, at ‘1 old Penny’ a slice!  “ Happy Memories and Times Past “

Yesterday evening after supper we settled down to watch the next exciting and very gripping episode of ‘ Killing Eve ‘ – with just one killing this week, but a surprise return from the dead, after being stabbed with a Pitch-Fork! Watch this space.

“ STAY SAFE AND WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
