A ' FRESH' & WARM AND BEAUTIFUL DAY IN SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 17th/ MAY 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 64 “

No lie in for the wicked this morning, so after freshening up we had a quick toast and tea before getting today’s ‘ Roast’ on the go; ‘ Roast Lemon Chicken’ with a savoury Mixed Herb Stuffing. I first jointed the Chicken into a Crown, Legs & Thighs, seasoned with Sea Salt & White Pepper and rubbed with Lemon Juice, then placed on a bed of mixed Vegetable Trivets, covered with ‘Tin-Foil’ for the first hour, then taken off and basted, going back in the very hot oven to roast off and colour.

I then made my now famous ‘ Finger-Licking’ Pan Gravy, using the roasting juices, making a ‘Roux’ and then slowly adding a rich ‘Chicken & Vegetable’ stock, adjusting the seasoning to taste, adding a small spoon of ‘ Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning’ – left to cook-off under the eye of the ‘Second Chef’!

Speaking of which, she has prepared an ‘ Extravaganza ‘ of Vegetables; Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Crushed Baby Carrots & Turnips, Whole ‘ French’ Green Beans, Creamed Baby Leeks, Braised Onion and Garden Peas! Not forgetting the ‘Roast Potatoes’- sliced in halves & par-boiled, drained and shaken, then tossed into a rich ‘Chicken Juices/Fat & Vegetable’ Oil, as we have run out of ‘ Goose Fat ‘!

This evening as our dear friend Leah is dropping off little ‘ Miss Bella’ with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ for a short holiday, until Thursday, so   we are preparing a ‘ Roast Chicken Dinner’ for her to take away for her and her son Deemy.

We have a glorious day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – in a very beautiful sunny Manilva, the sun was out first thing with a spectacular sunrise above a calm Mediterranean,  there is just a very slight breeze so it’s ‘fresh’ and very sunny, with a clear blue cloudless sky, by lunchtime reaching 24 degs+ - overnight down to 15 degs+ - next week is going to be dry and sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, slowly going warmer, with light breezes, hovering in the mid/high 20s, up to 28 degs+ on some days, the following week is now even looking warmer, watch this space.

Over in Liverpool last Thursday all the main architectural buildings etc were lit up in the ‘Rainbow’ colours, in support of the “ NHS “ – see below a small selection.

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

All quiet today as sunny Manilva prepares to move into ‘ Phase 1 ‘ from tomorrow.  It’s been confirmed that we can use the local ‘Cafe/Bars’ terraces ( 50% open) at any time, of course remembering all the distance requirements etc, at the same time all the timetables for our fresh air walks remain the same, ie; the over ‘70 s’ between 10 -00 am & Noon and 7-00 pm to 8 00 pm!

Small business’s can re-open, up 10 people can meet, using ‘ Masks’ – the Church will be open ( 30%+) – individual training sessions for sport, as well as fishing & hunting are allowed, and the local street Markets ( 25 %) will also re-open ( Flowers & Plants?!) – all the above, taking place in the province of Malaga only! Watch this space.

“ STAY SAFE & WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
