A VERY WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE ' BANK HOLIDAY' WEEKEND.

 FRIDAY 1ST MAY 2020.   “STATE OF ALARM DAY 48 “

“ INTERNATIONAL WORKER’S DAY – LABOUR DAY “

After freshening up, as I was on the breakfast rota I had a ‘ Toasted English Pork Sausage Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda – with mugs of hot/strong ‘ PG’ Tips Tea – to get the ‘ Bank Holiday ‘ weekend on the go!

As usual we were listening to the ‘ Lockdown Part Show’ on ‘ Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW ‘ – the ‘ Music Quiz’ came on and I got it straight away, it was ‘ Cyndi Lauper’ with ‘ Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ – sadly I have not got two of the ‘Mystery Voices’ this week ( Timothy Dalton & Jane Horrocks) – but at my second attempt today I got it right, it was ‘Catherine’  the ‘ Duchess of Cambridge’!

The sun was out early this morning and the clouds have cleared and the sky is bright blue, there is a very slight breeze, so by lunchtime it’s going to reach 28 degs- overnight down to 15 degs – at the moment it’s very warm & sunny, over the weekend it’s staying the same, next week is now looking very similar, with lots of warm sunshine, with just a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the mid/high 20s, all week, by next weekend going a little cooler, as the breeze picks up, with the threat of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ back in the air, watch this space.

“ CARONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

Yesterday evening the ‘Health Minister’ – Salvador Illa – announced the conditions of ‘ Phase 0’ - under which adults may go out for walks and exercise, starting tomorrow, on Saturday 2nd May!

See below;

Older people with carers and seniors over 70 years of age ( US!) have been given our own time slots, each day, of 10am to 12 pm and 7pm to 8pm! All within one-kilometer radius of your home, once a day!

Later in the evening the ‘Prime Minister’ Pedro Sanchez’ announced that he would be asking the ‘ Congress- Parliament ‘ in Madrid, to extend the ‘ LOCKDOWN’ for another 15 days from May 10th

                                            “ Given with One Hand – Taken by Another “

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Goujons of Hake Fillet ‘ – coated in a ‘Tempura Cruzcampo Beer Batter’ – shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil – until crisp & golden, accompanied with lots of Lemon Wedges and ‘ Homemade Tartar’ sauce (Brenda) – served with ‘ Batchelors Mushy Peas’ ( thanks Leah!)  and of course triple-cooked ‘ Chips’

Last night after supper we watched the first episode of the return of “ The Real Marigold Hotel’ as the celebrities; ‘ Britt Ekland, Duncan Bannatyne, Dame Zandra Rhodes, Paul Eliiott, Henry Blofeld, John Altman, Susie Blake & Barbara Dickson’ – arrived in India and got their first taste of the chaotic traffic, colours & smells of the ocean-front city of Puducherry!

Later we caught the first episode of the return/remake of ‘ Van der Valk’ – the cynical Dutch detective – in Amsterdam – capturing all the tawdry beauty of the city, as he and his team investigated two murders, a kidnapping and political corruption, with ‘Marc Warren’ in the title role.

PS; The first/last time I was in Amsterdam, was back in 1952, with my Mum & Dad, eating ‘ Frits’ from a paper cone, with Mayonnaise!

                                            “ STAY SAFE & SOUND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
