A ' FRESH' AND WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 9th/ MAY 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 56 “

We were up late this morning, as last night we caught a late repeat of this week’s episode of ‘ Van der Valk’ over on ITV, it’s on at the same time as ‘Killing Eve’ on BBC on a Sunday evening, it’s the remake of the old series and is of course filmed in Amsterdam, with an excellent cast and rather exciting murders!

After freshening up it was time for breakfast, as usual on a Saturday morning I had Brenda’s perfect ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast’ – Boiled for Brenda with brown toast fingers, with mugs of hot/strong Tea to set us up for the day ahead.

‘Leah’ then called in to collect our shopping list/bags and the cash, as she is going down to Sabinillas for all our shopping ( every two-weeks) to ‘ Mercadona & and then Super Sol’!

PS; ' Leah' has just dropped off our shopping, from a very busy 'Mercadona'  - ' Thanks'  - the not so good news is that her move to live in Gibraltar with her son Deemy ' is going to happen a lot quicker then expected, she is looking at a flat on Monday and has to register Deemy into the school ASAP! So we will have a problem with our main shopping sooner than we thought! Watch this space.

PPS; We are also going to miss having little ' Miss Bella' with us in Doggy World Heaven ' !

This morning it’s a little ‘ fresh’ as the breeze has picked up, the sun was out earlier and the sky is blue and cloudless, it’s still warm & sunny, so by lunchtime it’s going to reach 23 degs+ - overnight down to 14 degs+ -  sadly from tomorrow – Sunday and all of next week – as the wet ‘ Atlantic’ front blows in we are in for a rather unsettled, damp and cooler time, very unseasonal, to say the least, with light to moderate rain/drizzle, heavy on some days, lots of clouds and the overall temperatures hovering in the high ‘ teens’ – low ‘20s’ all week, the following week, starting from next Sunday is going to be back to normal with lots of hot sunshine, back up to 25 degs’ Watch this space.

“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

The main news this morning is that yesterday evening, up in Madrid, the ‘ Health Minister’ Salvador Illa, announced that two provinces in Andalucia, ‘ Granada & MALAGA ‘ – ours, will stay in ‘Phase 0’ on Monday, as the other six go to ‘Phase 1 ‘ – it was expected by all the local ‘Cafe/Bar & Restaurants’ that they would be able to re-open, they have all stocked up and prepared their terraces ( 50% ) – sadly no more!  What makes it more galling for all the local businesses is that  ‘Sotogrande’ will be open, just a few kilometers along the coast, as it’s in the province of Cadiz ! Watch this space!!

See the news below;

We are of course still under the most severe ‘LOCKDOWN’ rules in Europe, especially the over 70s, we go for our walk down to the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ each evening between 7 00 pm to 8 00 pm! When we return it’s time for our daily ‘clapping’ and me blowing my whistle, waving to our neighbours, as we show our appreciation for all the services keeping us safe & well – all the time.

This evening for our supper we are having ’Grilled Spanish Steaks’ – cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med –Rare’ – then left to rest before slicing into  fingers ‘French’ style, garnished with seared Button Onions & Shallots, served with whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Frits’- accompanied with Dijon Mustard.

Yesterday evening we watched over on ‘Channel 5’ “ The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys’ as it was in Spain, on the ‘ El Transcantabrico  Gran Lujo ‘  with just 24 suites in the original 1923 Pullman coaches, on the narrow gauge  single tracks, over 600 kms, taking six days, with overnight stops at local small stations on the route, in Northern Spain, with excursions to places of interest, the most luxury experience.
