A VERY HOT AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 20th/ MAY 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM – DAY 67 “

I was up first this morning, as we had left our gas bottle out, for the delivery man to exchange this morning, after freshening up we had our normal fresh fruit ( sliced Banana) toast and tea, before getting the day on the go, Brenda then took little ‘ Miss Bella’ out for her first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, while I prepared this evenings supper. ( See below )

PS; Rose has just called to say that Adrian’s appointment at the ‘ Costa Del Sol Hospital’ has been cancelled, again, for the third time, until the 19th June!  So no ‘ Scruffy’ on Thursday/ Friday!!

As usual we had the ‘ Lockdown Party’ show on ‘Castle Radio FM 89.2 & Online on the WWW’ playing in the background, the ‘ Mystery Voice’ was easy this morning, it was ‘ Alex Jones’ the TV presenter, yesterday was very difficult, I tried with no success, to ‘ Google’ the answer, it turned out to be ‘Harry H. Corbett’!

Yesterday afternoon we caught up with Jenny, over in the UK, on the ‘ Skype’ audio-call, with all her news, we didn’t call her on Sunday, as usual, she is fine and had been out for a walk for the first time in a long time.

On Sunday we had a nice surprise ‘ Skype’ video call, late in the evening ( 12 – mid night) from Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, as Alanna & Blake had driven down from Ottawa for the weekend ( six hours ) – so we had a nice chat with them and caught up with all their news ( Jobs?!)  Watch this space.

We have another glorious day here in a very sunny Manilva, the sun was out early and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, there is very light breeze, so by lunchtimes it’s due to reach 28 degs+ - overnight dropping to 18 degs+! – the rest of the week is staying the same, hovering in the high 20s, over the weekend going just a little cooler, as the breeze pick up, next week is now looking like we are in for more of the same, with lots of warm sunshine, hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ – watch this space.

Over the past few weeks we have been watching a documentary series, on ‘ITV’  showing the long serving staff of “ Portmerion” village in Gwynedd, North Wales, it was designed and built by ‘ Sir Clough Williams-Ellis ‘ between 1925 & 1975! – in the style of an Italian village,  it’s located in the community of ‘ Penrhyndeudraeth’ - on the estuary of the ‘River Dwyrd’ 2 miles south of  ‘Porthmadoc’

In 1966/67  it became famous in the surreal spy drama “ The Prisoner “ in which the famous actor ‘Patrick McGoohan’ - played the retired intelligence agent ‘ Number 6 ‘

We were first introduced to it back in 1972, when were the Managers of the world famous mountaineers hotel ‘ Pen Y Gwryd Hotel’ – in the heart of Snowdonia, the owners of the hotel were old friends of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis’ – so we visited it and then took Tim and his then wife Sandra, for a weekend stay in the cottages and a special meal in the restaurant of the Hotel!  ‘ Happy Times & Memories ‘

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “

From tomorrow, Thursday, the personal protective equipment of ‘Face Masks’  must be worn in all public spaces – open & closed – where social distancing cannot be respected, it had been only compulsory on public transportation in Spain, since May 4th – it applies to everyone over the age of six, as well as being recommended for children between three & five years of age!

See below a ' Council ' meeting this morning in the Town Hall !

After breakfast I prepared this evenings supper, and tomorrow night’s as well – a “ Braised Beef & Vegetable Casserole “ – the ‘ Braising Steak ‘ – our local Butchers finest, is first dusted in seasoned flour and browned off, at the same time I made the ‘ Casserole’ sauce, with sliced/diced Onions, Shallots & Garlic, with diced Carrots, Leeks, Celery, Turnips, Beans & Baby Mushrooms, all sweated-off in Butter & Vegetable Oil, with a good dash of ‘ Lea & Perrins & Tabasco’ –  as well as ‘ Tomato Frito’ before adding a ‘ Beef & Vegetable ‘ stock along with a rich ‘Demi Glaze’- adjusting the seasoning and consistency , as well as the colour ( Crosse & Blackwell Gravy Browning) Finally adding the Beef’ - to go into a hot oven this evening. The ‘ Second/Vegetable Chef’ has prepared Glazed Carrot Batons & Whole ‘ French’ Green Beans as well as her famous ‘ Mashed Potato’!

“ STAY SAFE AND WELL INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
