SUNDAY 3rd/ MAY 2020. “ STATE
OF ALARM – DAY 50”!
“ MOTHER’S DAY – SPAIN “
We had a nice long lie in this morning, at
the start of ‘Week 8 ‘ in ‘LOCKDOWN’
down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ in a very sunny Manilva, after freshening
up it was time for our regular light breakfast of fresh fruit ( sliced Banana)
toast (local) and Tea ( PG Tips) to get another day/week on the go.
The sun was out first thing and the sky is
cloudless and bright blue, another perfect day, at the start of May, yesterday
by the afternoon it was very hot & sunny, reaching nearly 30 degs+ - today
it looking similar, as there is just a very slight breeze, it’s forecast to go
back up to 27 degs+ - overnight only down to 17 degs! – next week is now
looking very warm & sunny all week, with just a few patchy clouds at times,
hovering in the mid/high 20s, staying now dry, with lots of warm sunshine,
along with light breezes, the perfect time of the year before it gets really
hot, the following week is looking even better, watch this space.
“ CORANAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 PANDEMIC “
Once again, yesterday, the Spanish Prime
Minister ‘Pedro Sanchez’ updated the rules of ‘Phase 0 ‘ – making it obligatory
to wear face masks on the public transport, as well as confirming that certain business’s
could re-open, such as bookshops, hardware/garages, after making the necessary
arrangements and being checked, including restaurants being able to take orders
over the phone, for delivery only!
At the same time he changed/updated the
details of ‘ Phase 1’ when/if it comes
into action, later in the month, as meetings/homes ( of 10 people) will be allowed, Hotels open for
locals/guests from the same province only, as well as places of worship, the
local open-air markets, set up up to 25% of their usual capacity and sidewalk
Cafes/Bars will also be able to re-open, albeit at now 50% of their usual
capacity! Watch this space.
PS; Yesterday afternoon the new tenants of ‘Bar
Rojas Sol Vida’ arrived outside on a new scooter with a delivery box on the
back!!
We have just spoken to our dear friend Leah,
on the ‘Facebook’ Messenger, when we call her, little ‘ Miss Bella’ comes charging
upstairs, at the sound of our voices, with her tail wagging!
Yesterday Leah was
back over in Gibraltar, which is also starting to come back to life, she was
cleaning/sterilizing her business premises, ready to re-open tomorrow morning!
She had a problem with the Spanish police at the border, coming back out, but
hopefully it will settle back down from tomorrow. She is going out on Thursday
morning this week for her/our shopping from ‘Mercadona/Super Sol’ – ‘ Thanks’
For our supper this evening we are having ‘
Grilled Medallions of Pork Fillet’ – seared on a very hot griddle-plate,
garnished with seared sliced Baby Button Mushrooms and accompanied with a rich
and creamy ‘ Green Peppercorn’ salsa, served with whole Baby Carrots en Branch,
whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans and our
favourite ‘ Pommes de Terre Rissolees’ – Boiled Baby New Potatoes in their
skins, sautéed in foaming Parsley Butter, until crisp & golden!
As I cut the ‘ Medallions’ from the centre
of the ‘Pork Fillet’ I slice and flatten the tail-ends, for our supper tomorrow
evening, when we are having ‘ Pork Schnitzels’ – ‘Holstein’ style – topped with
a ‘ Campo Fried Egg, resting on a bed of ‘Spaghetti Milanese’!!
Yesterday afternoon we caught up with our
dear friends, Tim & Thea, up in magical Mojacar, for a nice chat, with all
of their news, they were looking forward to going out for their first walk
later, with Thea acting as Tim’s ‘Carer for the Elderly’ ( it’s an age thing!)

with Jenny first and then later with Sandra & Bill over in Everett,
Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Skype’ audio/video, toasting Bill, as it’s his
birthday tomorrow! ‘ Cheers’
