A NOW ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE ' CHRISTMAS' WEEK!

MONDAY 17th/ DECEMBER 2018.

We had a nice lie in this morning as we will not have the chance again, for quite a while as we have ‘ Charlie & Chico’ with us in ‘Doggy World Heaven’ for over three weeks into the New Year, after freshening up I was on the breakfast rota so we had my now famous ‘ Toasted Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of strong ‘ PG’ Tips Tea, ‘Chispa’ then joined us, she’s going to have a nice surprise when she sees the dogs over the next few days!

‘Chico’ is due to arrive tomorrow afternoon and then ‘ Charlie’ is joining us, now, on Wednesday, this evening Jan is calling in to see us to update us on ‘ Charlie’s’ medication etc, as he’s changed his tablets, for his Epilepsy, Brian & Jan are going to Barbados, for nearly three weeks, as a ‘ late’ Honeymoon, after they finally got married over a year ago!

This morning has started a little grey & overcast after last night’s spectacular ‘ Red Sunset’ – the sun is just breaking through, after another spectacular ‘Golden Sunrise’ - but it’s still cloudy, by lunchtime it’s will be only 16 degs+ - overnight down to 11/12 degs, but still dry & crisp! Over the next few days we are in for more of the same, over the weekend leading up to ‘Christmas’ it’s going a little warmer, into the high ‘ teens’ – the threat of the ‘wet-stuff’ is still in the air, at times, ‘ fingers crossed ‘ for a sunny Christmas Day & Boxing Day, watch this space.

See below last evenings ‘Red Sunset’ & this morning’s ‘ Golden Sunrise’ !!

On Wednesday it’s the traditional  Christmas  “ Manilva Brass Band Concert “ down at the ‘Iglesia Santa Ana Church’ – in the early evening, we will walk down with the dogs and take it in turns to go in and watch it!

See below;

On Friday morning I will be out on my travels, down to Sabinillas, for our main ‘ Xmas Shopping’ – then on ‘Christmas Eve’ ( a week today!) I will be back down to ‘Puerto de la Duquesa Marina’ to call into the ‘ English Butchers’ to collect the Turkey, which he will ‘ Crown’ for me, leaving the Legs & Thighs separate, not forgetting the Pigs in Blankets!

This morning we had this week’s Menu planning meeting; to start this evening we are having ‘ Chicken Schnitzels’ – finished ‘ Holstein’ style, with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – on Tuesday it’s going to be ‘ Marinated Grilled Lamb Cutlets ‘ – for Wednesday I’m making a ‘ Cottage Pie’ – using fresh Beef & Pork Mince ( 50/50) from our local Butcher, Thursday is a ‘ left-over’s day, or possibly Chicken Wings, then on Friday it will be our usual ‘ Fish Night’ – as well as on Saturday our ‘ Steak Night’ – Sunday is still TBC, watch this space.

Just a quick update on yesterdays football results; Liverpool won 3-1 against a very poor Manchester Utd and Barcelona won 0-4 with Messi scoring his 31st hat-trick’ for them!

Yesterday evening we made contact with Sandra & Bill, on the ‘ Skype’ video, over in a very cold ( minus 8 degs!) but not much snow, Everett, Ontario, Canada, they are both very well and are looking forward to Christmas’ with all their family, we have arranged to call them on ‘ Christmas Day ‘ – time still TBC – depending on when they all turn up!

Brenda also called Jenny, as she does every Sunday, on the ‘ Skype’ Landline system ( very cheap!) for a news catch-up, she’s joining Norah for Christmas and her Birthday on the 27th!

This afternoon/evening we will be catching up with the ‘ Quiz Shows’ that we follow, last night we watched the annual “ BBC Sports Personality of the Year “ as Geraint Thomas won!

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
