A BEAUTIFUL WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY:

SATURDAY 8th/ DECEMBER 2018.

“ DIA DE LA INMACULADA CONCEPCION “

We all had a nice lie in this morning as the village is even quieter than normal as it’s religious ‘ Dia De La Inmaculada Concepcion ‘ Bank Holiday, with all the various ‘ Masses’ taking place in the Santa Ana Church during the day/later.

‘ Scoobie’ was on the duvet all night after little prince ‘ Paddy’ claimed his spot on the bed with us, they are now both new friends and are getting on very well, after freshening up we took them for their first walk of the day along ‘ Calle Mar’ – Brenda picked up a small ‘Xmas’ decoration from the local ‘ All-Sorts’ Shop ‘ – we then collected  our three large ‘Poinsettias’ from of all places, the main ‘ Panaderia – Bread Shop’ just past the ‘ Fish Market’! When we returned ‘ Chispa’ was waiting to see us, so for one minute is was pandemonium as the three ‘ Musketeers’ went mad!

Brenda was on the breakfast rota so I had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for her, in the ‘ Microwave’ – which I don’t agree with, I’m a traditionalist, a knob of butter in a hot pan & stirred! – with mugs of strong/sweet Tea, to set us up for the day ahead.

Yesterday evening we went down to the ‘ Plaza de la Vendemia’ to watch the opening of the “ Gastronomic Food & Wine Festival “ and the turning on of the Xmas Street Lights and new modern Tree, one of the main ‘ Parranada Bands’ was playing, as the whole village turned out, all the stall were stacked and ready, the stage was set for the first concert later and the local ‘ Sherry’ was being dispensed!

See above a selection of pictures of the opening night, of three days of partying, singing, dancing, eating & drinking – it’s a hard-life – but somebody has to do it!!

We have another beautiful day down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ – this morning the sun was out early and the sky is bright blue, there is no breeze so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 20 degs+ tomorrow even a little warmer, next week is now staying the same, dry & sunny, with patchy clouds at times, hovering in the low 20s, perfect for our trip across to Malaga on Thursday to see the spectacular ‘ Light & Music’ Show in the main shopping street ‘ Calle Larios’ Watch this space.

On the sports front this weekend; over in the ‘Premire League’ Liverpool have the long journey down to play AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City went down on the train to London to play Chelsea, Everton are at home, on Monday, to welcome Watford, here in ‘La Liga’ it’s the ‘ Derby Game’ as Espanyol welcome Barcelona and Real Madrid visit Huesca, who are playing their first season in La Liga, at their small stadium ( 7,638 spectators!) ) in Northern Spain.  The ‘ National Hunt Racing ‘ this afternoon is at Sandown Park and Aintree!

This evening for our supper we are having a large ‘ Grilled Rib of Beef . on the Bone’ cooked on a very hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – then left to rest before taking it off the bone and slicing it into fingers ‘ French’ style, garnished with seared Asparagus Spears, Button Mushrooms and deep-fried Onion Rings ( milk & flour) – with whole ‘ French’ Green Beans and of course twice-cooked ‘ Frits’ – accompanied with the classic ‘ Bearnaise ‘ sauce. On Sunday evening we are now having a local Chicken,’ Roasted’ with all the trimmings including ‘ Goose Fat’ Roast Potatoes!

After supper we will be channel hopping to find something to watch, as well as calling into the ‘Festival’ during the day & evening.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
