A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 4th/ OCTOBER 2014.

This morning we were awoken by the gas-bottle delivery man sounding his horn, you can’t moan as the service is very good despite being in the middle of a gas-bottle war! On Tuesday & Thursday the new man on the block (Cespa) calls and then on Wednesday & Saturday the regular one, ours calls (Repsol)!

Today the sun is out already and it’s a gorgeous morning which means that we will have a warmer day later, the rest of the weekend is looking good and into the start of next week, so far to Wednesday, it’s more of the same.26/28 degs+!

Before I went down for breakfast I tuned in the smaller PC to watch ‘BBC TV News’ first and then ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’ later; so I had a nice surprise of Brenda’s famous ‘Campo Poached Eggs on Toast’- she is the Poached Egg ‘Queen’ – simply vinegar and attention! I’m the Fried Egg ‘King’ – which I was showed by Mano, here in Spain they are normally served crisp but I prefer them not crisp, but soft, so using Virgin Olive Oil, covering the egg, I drop the egg in when its cold and then warm them up slowly- result, a perfectly soft
Fried (Poached?!) Egg!! See below Brenda's Poached Eggs!

See below my Fried Egg!!

So tonight we are having ‘Entrecote Steak’ cooked on the griddle ‘Pink’ with Sautéed Baby Mushrooms and for a change whole French Green Beans, twice-cooked Frits ( slim Chips!) and of course fried Garlic Buds for Brenda and a perfectly Fried Egg for me!! A sauce boat of Béarnaise sauce on the side.See below for the French Beans!

At lunchtime we went for a nice easy walk around our part of the village and ended up at 'Bar Rojas' for a cool drink on a gorgeous day in sunny Manilva as you can see above.

Now for the sports news update (Sorry Josie!) It’s the ‘Japanese Grand Prix’later with Roseberg on pole and Hamilton second, the big news is that Vettle is leaving Red Bull for Ferrari! The only problem is that the race is threatened by ‘Typhoon Phanfone’ hitting the circuit!

Meanwhile over here in ‘La Liga’Real Madrid welcome Ath. Bilbao and Barcelona travel to Rayo Vallecano, back in England in the ‘Premiere League’ its Liverpool v West Brom, Aston Villa v Manchester City and tomorrow Manchester United welcome Everton. Liverpool won 2-1 City won 0-2 and Barcelona won 0-2 also!

Last nights film on ‘TVE 1’ so no commercial brakes, was the multi-award winning “Mystic River”from 2003 which was directed, co-produced and scored by Clint Eastwood with Sean Penn ( Oscar) Tim Robbins( Oscar) Kevin Bacon, Marcia Gay Harden, Laura Linny and Laurence Fishburne – it won more awards at the ‘Golden Globs’ and ‘Bafta’s’ over in England!

Which leads me nicely into the ‘Cheshire Business Awards’ ceremony last night in Chester Cathedral; The ‘New Moon Pub Company’ won the “ Business of the Year Award 2014 ” Congratulations to David & Paul who only started the company over three year ago, now with six sites, the latest just about to re-open in Chester next week! The’Linenhall’is now to be called the ‘Mockingbird Taproom’!!

So this evening after supper we will watch the news, sport and weather details round-up before finding a film to watch.

Thoughts for the Day; See above.
