A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON FRIDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEKEND;
Yesterday
afternoon the bed in our bedroom fell apart once again, the leg fell off this
time! It’s a very old antique bed and we have had it repaired many time in the
past; so we had to move upstairs to the main guest bedroom last night, it is
rather different and also a bit colder up on the top of the house, the repair
man called in and is hopefully coming back later today.
Last night
we went out for supper, as we gave the ‘staff’ the night off! We had a very
nice meal. once again at the ‘Kinnaree Thai Restaurant’ – the highlight of the
starters was the Steamed Pork “Dim –Sun” For the main course we had the same as
last time but with Brenda’s King Prawns with Chilli & Lemongrass she had
some excellent Vegetable Cow Mien Noodles and I had with my *** King Prawns in
Messamen Curry sauce the rather special Fried Rice with Prawns!
The Duquesa
Marina last night was rather quiet and the only customers in the various
restaurants were all English half-term holidaymakers – sat inside not out, it
was like being back in England! See the pictures above of the marina and the
restaurants, I had on my new purple shirt but it does not show in the picture –
honest!
Before we
went out I had been across to the hospital over in Marbella for my eye
test/consultation, the result is that my right eye passed all the tests for
pressure, optic nerves etc but I have a small Cataract that needs further
investigation; this mean that I have to go back to the hospital next Friday
lunchtime and again on the following Wednesday before a final consultation TBC
– three round trips of 100kms!!!
So the
diary over the next couple of weeks is looking rather busy with the
hospital/doctor appointments, airport transfers and pick ups ‘Doggy World
Heaven’ is very busy and the ‘Bird Sanctuary Resort’ also welcoming its first
guest!
The weather
this morning is gorgeous with a little light ‘Levant breeze with more to come over the weekend.
This
morning after a quick breakfast we shot down to Sabinillas as the local flower
market was not open, we called and picked up the papers, then our main shop at
‘Mercadona’ & ‘Super Sol’- some light bulbs from the ‘Ferraterias’ and
finally we stopped at the local flower market on the promenade; on the way back
up to the village we called into the ‘Manilva Green Hotel’ for a catch up
chat/gossip with Mano & Carlos who we have not seen for quite a while.
Now for
some very sad and surprising news, our very dear friends Brian & Lilli have
parted their ways just as their new life down here and work over in Gibraltar
was coming together, Lilli has gone back to Finland with the car and their two
dogs and ‘Big’ Brian is here trying/succeeding to get his life back on track
with a few technical problems to sort out, all his local friends are rallying
around him and his family back in England are giving him their full support at
this very difficult time. We of course are here for him at anytime as a port of
call, a shoulder to listen too and food and drink as required! Love and kind
thoughts to our very dear friend ‘Big’ Brian.
So
tonight’s supper is ‘Goujons of Hake Fillet’ with all the usual trimmings, On
Saturday we have two ‘Entrecote’ steaks to attack before our Sunday roast which
is going to be ‘Roast Loin of Pork’ with local Chestnut stuffing!
Our repair/maintenance man arrived as promised and has just re-glued/screwed the bed together as you can see in the picture below.

A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY;
THURSDAY 30th/
OCTOBER 2014.
Up with the
larks this morning as ‘Reina’ was due early ‘Chispa’ came along after breakfast
so she missed her brown toast and butter; ‘Scruffy’ is due at lunchtime, this
means that ‘Doggy World Heaven’is in full swing!
The weather
is fine and the forecast for the weekend is OK but a little cold front has
crept under the radar and so the temperatures are down to only 25degs! October
has broken every record standing all around the country, yesterday in Bilbao it reached 31degs – this is unheard
off for Northern
Spain !
This
morning we have freshened our self’s up and are taking the rest of the day
easy, this evening I’m leaving Brenda in charge of the dogs before they are
picked up as I’m going across to Marbella to the hospital for my eye
tests/consultation at 7-20pm! I’m then going to pick Brenda up from the house
and we are now going out for supper down to Duquesa Marina to the ‘Kinnaree
Thai’ restaurant.
The press
secretary of the ‘Queen’ of Skelton, up north, has just released a message/rant
from her to say that she is most displeased when she visits their homes and
they leave the TV on! Thank god we have always turned ours off, hopefully, in
fact I play a very nice selection of background music on my I-Pod – we would hate
to receive the displeasure of the’ Queen’!! I’ve posted a message to the staff
to make sure that is does not happen here!!
Just a
quick reminder to all the followers of the Blog, always go back to today’s page
later as its updated as the day goes on with more news and now pictures after I
found out how to post them onto the page!
So this
evening we are looking forward to our ‘Night Out’ –it will be a nice change and
give the ‘Chef’ and his ‘Staff’ a well deserved night off after all the hard
work in the kitchens! Thanks!!

A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;
WEDNESDAY
29th/ OCTOBER 2014.
This
morning after a quick breakfast we shot around to the surgery for my
appointment with our Doctor to check the X-Rays from yesterday; there is
nothing showing that needs attention or further investigation at the moment,
next Monday the results of all my blood tests will be in and she will then
check out everything and see how I am, no pain killers as she does not want to
upset my on going tablets at the moment, this means that I will have to wait
and see how things progress with the problem which is chest pains through to my
lungs at different times of the day!
So today we
are taking things easy - ‘Scruffy’ is due at lunchtime for the rest of the day,
he’s back tomorrow with ‘Reina’ who is here for the day also; tomorrow evening
I have my eye test/consultation over at the hospital in Marbella so after I
return its going to be ‘Chefs’ night off and we will go up to Bar Rojas for
some supper!
The weather
forecast is still looking good and getting a little warmer by the weekend,
today it’s a little overcast at the moment but no doubt will pick up later; one
thing that our Doctor did say was that we should both be walking more now that
Brenda is back to her old self so we will increase our doggy walking!
We have just come back from a walk down to the entrance to the village with 'Chispa' so I took a picture of the new 'Welcome' sign by the roundabout as you can see below, they have used the 'Pro-Mo' sign from above in today's thoughts!!

We then went for another short walk with 'Scruffy'after he arrived and 'Chispa' joined us as well!
We have just had a well deserved 'Foot Spa; after all the walking today!!
The latest report from the state visit to Newcastle of the 'Queen' of Skelton is that she has retired to the privacy of her bedroom with her 'Consort' for some well deserved 'Private Time' after a busy schedule - she is human after all!!

A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY;
TUESDAY 28th/
OCTOBER 2014.
I was up
early this morning to welcome little princess ‘Reina’for the day, for a change
thanks to the hour going back it was light; the sun was out and the forecast up
to the weekend is fine with more sun and clear blue skies, its gradually
getting a little warmer at the same time.
We had our
usual breakfast and sorted out the menus for the next couple of days, this
evening we are having flattened Chicken Breast cooked in foaming Lime Butter
with whole Green Beans and sautéed new potatoes, then on Wednesday its going to
be Grilled Gammon Steak with Garden Peas and twice-cooked ‘Frits’ – topped with
Grilled Pineapple and ‘Campo’ Fried Eggs! + HP sauce!!
At
lunchtime I’m going across to Estepona for some X-Rays at the local hospital in
the center of the town, it just an outpatients/treatment centre, the X-Ray
department is very efficient and is run by one man, my appointment is for 13-01pm and I will come out in a few
minutes with my X-Rays! Then its back to see our Doctor tomorrow morning –
fingers crossed!
Over in the
UK ‘Up North’ in Skelton the ‘Queen’ is on an official state visit to Newcastle
taking in some culture, retail therapy and fine dining – more details to follow
from her press secretary and possibly some pictures. Just in - see below.
Some local
news about a Brazilian Man Nico Ferreira who is married to the daughter of a
very good friend of Mano’s, Juan, we have know him from when we first arrived
in sunny Manilva all those years ago; he’s a professional motor bike race
taking part in the ‘Moto 1000cc GP’over in the USA, he rides for the ‘Aclat’
team. See the picture below.
This
evening after supper we will as usual catch up with all the news, sport and
weather details before finding something to watch.

A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK;
I was up
early this morning and after a quick breakfast I shot around to the surgery for
my appointments; first it was my blood tests with the nurse and then with our
Doctor, she gave me a good check over and arranged for me to go for an X-Ray
tomorrow lunchtime over in Estepona, then I’m back with her on Wednesday
morning to check them out and see what’s up?!
At the same
time I arranged for us both to go for our anti-flu jabs a week on Thursday and
then back to see our Doctor on the Friday for the results of all of my blood
tests! I’m also at the hospital this week on Thursday evening for an Eye test
and to see the Consultant. After all this I/we should be checked out, ready for
anything and rearing to go after having everything possible, nearly checked
out!!
Here in
‘Doggy World Heaven’ this week its looking rather busy - ‘Reina’ is with us on
Tuesday & Thursday, so far unless Barbara, her other sitter, goes into
labour then ‘Scruffy’ is with us on Wednesday & Thursday – all the
appointments/bookings etc, I keep in an old fashioned day diary and color code(
five!) them all!
Last nights
‘Roast Topside of Beef’ cooked ‘Pink’ as you cold see in the picture, was
rather tasty and we really enjoyed our little treat, tonight we are having the
same but cold, we always enjoy cold roast meats the day after along with a
fry-up of the leftover vegetables and roast potatoes!
So today we
are taking things easy as we have a chance before the rest of the week ahead Brenda
as usual is finding something to do, at the moment there are lots of curtains
down for washing and the bathroom is getting a good once-over! Meanwhile I’m up
in the office on the WWW as usual checking out the newspapers, E-Mails,
Facebook messages etc.
This
evening after supper we will catch up with all the news, sport and weather
details before finding something to watch.
PS; It's still warm and sunny and the forecast for the rest of the week is for more of the same - 28degs today!
