AT THE MOMENT A DRY, ' FRESH' & SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 21st/ MARCH 2020.  “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 7 “

We had a nice sleep as the village is of course quieter than normal, this morning the ‘horn’ blowing of the gas-bottle delivery man got us up! After freshening up, as usual on a Saturday morning it was time for Brenda’s perfect ‘ Campo Poached Eggs on Toast’ – Scrambled on Brown Toast for herself, with mugs of very hot/strong Tea to set us up for the day ahead.

As we were going to bed last night a heavy rain storm hit us, it carried on for a couple of hours, this morning the clouds have cleared and the sky is blue, the wind has also dropped, so at the moment it’s dry & sunny! We are in for more of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ later, it’s only reaching 15 degs+ by lunchtime as the breeze stiffens, overnight down to 10/11 degs+ - tomorrow staying the same, on Monday at the start of the week we could have a little sunshine back in sunny Manilva, then sadly it’s back to more rain & wind for the rest of the week, with light to moderate showers, hovering in the mid ‘teens’ – the only good things is that we are stuck inside!  The following week on the forecasts is looking a lot better. Watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

We are having a very quiet weekend staying inside during the ‘ Lockdown’ as required, on Monday I’m going out after masking/gloving up to the local Bank in ‘Calle Mar’ to pay the electricity bill and on the way back call into the Chemists for a prescription tablet, the ‘Council’ have just washed down all the streets in the village, as well as the ‘Fire Brigade’  who are out helping also, as you can see below.

This morning I have been in contact with Leah, our dear friend, who is going to pick up some shopping next week, as she is insisting that we stay inside & safe, I have sent our dear friend Brian I message to check on him and his work arrangements next week ( Gibraltar?)

We have also had a nice ‘E-Mail’ from Kelvin & Gaye, over in North Wales, this morning have just spoken on the ‘Facebook’ messenger to Jeff & Annette over in Brisbane, Australia, after they sent us a nice message, they are both fine, Jeff is on a ‘Lockdown’ after returning from the USA & Canada, finally there was also a ‘Facebook’ message from our old friend Gillian, down in Totnes in Devon, with a catch-up of all her news.

This afternoon we are due to make a ‘ Skype’ link-up with Sandra & Bill over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, for ‘Mother’s Day’ chat, along with a glass of Cava!

 ‘Thanks’ to all and at all times;

                                   “ STAY SAFE & SOUND – INSIDE – AT ALL TIMES “ – AS REQUIRED!

For our supper this evening we are having a little treat, I’m cooking ‘ A La Carte’ style- to order – my version of the classic ‘Steak Diane’ – a trimmed & flattened ‘Entrecote Steak’ ( normally Fillet) – seasoned with Sea Salt & Black Peppercorns, then smeared in ‘Dijon Mustard’ on both sides, seared in foaming butter, then taken out to rest, as I make the sauce in the same pan, with diced Shallots & Garlic, then adding the sliced Baby Mushrooms, together with a dash of ‘ Lea & Perrins and Tabasco, along with a large spoon of ‘Dijon Mustard’ – before deglazing the pan with a little ‘Red Wine’ – then adding a good glass of Brandy and flaming, next adding the Double Cream & Chopped Parsley and checking the seasoning, to taste, and adjusting the consistency, before placing back the ‘Steaks’ to finish cooking! Served with Whole Baby ‘ French’ Green Beans, seared Asparagus Spears and of course triple-cooked ‘ Frits’!

No sport to follow, so we will be channel hopping to find something to watch, as well as checking out on all the main channels what is on and when, as we now don’t have any newspapers of TV Times to check!  Sadly the ‘ English Bookshop’ is not opening.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
