A NOW RATHER DAMP DAY IN SUNNY MANILVA AT THE START OF THE ' SPRING' WEEKEND.

FRIDAY 20th/ MARCH 2020.   “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 6 “

"  VERNAL EQUINOX - SPRING BEGINS "

We were woken up this morning, not too early, by the regular delivery down our street, to our local shop at the bottom of the street, they slide all the goods down on pallets! After freshening up we had our normal fresh fruit (Banana) toast & tea.

Overnight we had a little light rain, this morning it’s still very grey & overcast but at the moment dry, as you can see below in ‘Calle Mar’!

There is a stiff breeze and it’s grey and cloudy with more of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ hanging in the air, just reaching 16 degs+ - overnight down to 9/10 degs+ - sadly it’s now forecast to stay wet & windy over the weekend and heavy rain tomorrow, with no sunshine now, as the breeze stiffens, next week is also not looking good, with ‘ RAIN & WIND’ everyday, staying cloudy & overcast and hovering in the mid ‘ Teens’ – a good week to be inside, watch this space.

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

We are limiting when we have to go out for things, so on Monday I’m going along to the local Bank in ‘ Calle Mar’ to pay the Electricity Bill and then on the way back call into the ‘ Chemists’ for one of our prescription tablets, I’m also taking down the rubbish to the bins at the very bottom of our street as little as possible. Brenda is using the local shop only when needed and I will go down one day next week, in between the showers to the ‘ Suma’ supermarket.

See below the “ LOCKDOWN’ rules here in Spain!

At all times we are keeping up with all the news, both local & national, via reading/watching the ‘ Facebook/Manilva ‘ pages, reading the main Spanish newspaper ‘ EL Pais ‘ translated into English, as well as all the usual news on the ‘BBC’ news page, the excellent ‘ Daily Mail’ online, the ‘Al Jjazeera’ news online ( English) and of course all the World Wide News on ‘ BBC TV, ITV & Channel 4 ‘ - at the same times!

“ STAY SAFE AND INSIDE ALL THE TIME

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Goujon’s of Hake Fillet ‘ – shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil, after dipping them in a ‘ Cruzcampo Tempura Beer Batter ‘ – until crisp & golden – with Homemade ‘ Tartar’ sauce ( Brenda) – lots of Lemon wedges  and ‘ Mushy Peas ‘ ( limited stock ) – not forgetting the triple-cooked ‘Chips’ !

See below a picture of a Supermarket shelf, over in the UK, showing it stripped bare except for the ‘ Batchelors Mushy Peas ‘ that we find so hard to find! Also at the bottom of the shelf they have left alone the ‘ Corned Beef’ that we were only talking about the other day ‘ Corned Beef Hash ‘ !!  - my version made with sautéed Onions and of course we would use  Brenda’s famous ‘Mashed Potato ‘ the dish topped with a ‘ Campo Fried Egg !!

As usual over this weekend we are keeping positive at all times, staying relaxed and taking things very easy, as per normally actually, enjoying our own company – having our regular ‘ Happy Hour’ and of course eating as well as possible!

Tomorrow afternoon at  5-00 pm our time, we have arranged a ‘ Skype’ video link up with Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, for a ‘ Cava’ toast for ‘ Mother’s Day ‘ – then on Sunday we will call Jenny & Norah as usual.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
