A WET & WINDY, BUT NOW CLEARING, SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY 2nd/MARCH 2020.      “ NATIONAL PIE WEEK “

We all had a nice lie in this morning, as usual both ‘Chico & Lolo’ slept all night, they don’t move once they go to bed, after freshening up we took them out for their first walk of the day, ’Chico’ is due to be collected on Friday afternoon, we are going to miss him terribly as he’s such a lovely gentle and friendly dog, ‘Lolo’ is with us until the middle of the month. Next week little ‘ Miss Bella’ is now with us on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, as it’s a ‘ Bank Holiday’ in Gibraltar next Monday ( Commonwealth Day )

When we returned I was on the breakfast rota I had my favourite ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butty’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce – open on brown for Brenda, with her favourite, seared sliced Baby Mushrooms, in the bacon juices with a knob of butter, which also made it into my butty, with mugs of very hot/strong tea, to set us up for the week ahead!

It was then time to get the place sorted out, ( tables, glasses, cutlery etc)  after last night’s ‘ Welsh Banquet ‘ when Leah, Ryan & Deemy joined us, the iced bottle of ‘ Moet & Chandon’ to start was a real treat and brought back many happy memories over the years, especially of the ‘ Bridge Inn ‘ in Port Sunlight’ on a Saturday lunchtime, back in the late 60s, when the ‘ Wirral Set’ drank it like it was going out of fashion! ( 30 bob a bottle!)

Overnight the new ‘ Atlantic’ front his us, bringing with it ‘ Storm Karine ‘ all over Spain, with the tail-end hitting us, with heavy rain and wind, this morning we managed to dodge the rain as we took the dogs out, but it was still very windy & damp, the sky is cloudy, grey & overcast, so by lunchtime it’s forecast to reach 18/19 degs+ - overnight only down to 12 degs+ - from tomorrow and for the rest of the week and over the coming weekend it’s now looking a lot more settled, staying dry & sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, back up to 21/22 degs+ by Wednesday, warm & sunny, by the weekend going a little cooler, hovering in the mid ‘ teens’ as the breeze picks up again, watch this space.

Over in Liverpool at the weekend the ‘HMS Prince of Wales ‘ – berthed at the Pier Head, has been welcoming guests, dignitaries and locals, see below some more spectacular pictures.

Just a quick update on the football results; in the ‘ Premiere League’ Everton managed a 1-1 draw, after a late goal was ruled out, against Manchester Utd, at the final of the ‘ Carabao Cup’ at Wembley, Manchester City won 2-1 against Aston Villa, their third successive ‘Carabao’ Cup win!!!

Over here in Madrid, the ‘ Classico’ ended with a 2-0 win for Real Madrid against Barcelona, taking them 1 point ahead in ‘La Liga’!

For our supper this evening we are having the rest of the ‘Roast Halal Leg of Lamb’  - sliced cold, with all the leftover Vegetables and ‘Boulangere’ potatoes. The ‘Halal Lamb’ was very tasty, juicy and succulent, - perfectly cooked – ‘Pink’ – no blood! Tomorrow we are having Pan-Seared ‘Lambs Liver’ with crispy Smoked Bacon & grilled Pork Sausages, with a rick Red Wine Onion & Shallot Gravy.

On Wednesday it’s going be ‘ Pie & Chips’ ( see above) – Thursday is ‘ Find Something Day ‘ – then on Friday it will be a ‘ Fish Supper’ ( Pie?) before our regular ‘ Steak Night’ on Saturday, Sunday is still TBC, watch this space.

The new landline/home number has just become online & tested, as the ‘ OliveNet’ engineers sorted the problem out, so see below the new number, don’t forget the Spain calling code “ 0034 “!

This afternoon/evening we will be catching up with all the ‘Quiz Shows’ that we follow, last night we caught the second episode of the excellent ‘ Last Tango in Paris’ – this evening it’s after supper the next episode of ‘The Split’ – then watching all today’s news.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
