A RATHER ' FRESH' & DAMP SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.

SUNDAY 22nd/ MARCH 2020.    “ STATE OF ALARM DAY 8 “

“ MOTHER’S DAY “

This morning we overslept. so our day getting on the go, is a little behind, to say the least, we had a quick freshen up and had an even quicker toast & tea, before bringing Sunday, here in sunny Manilva, back on track, hence the ‘ Blog’ will be posted late today!

Overnight we had showers that started later in the evening, this morning it’s at the moment stayed dry, fresh and little cloudy with the sun attempting to break through, by lunchtime only reaching 16/16 degs+ - overnight down to 9/10 degs+ - with more of the ‘ Wet-Stuff’ due to hit us later, next week is going to be the same, patchy rain & cloudy, a stiff breeze dropping, later in the week and the overall temperatures hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ – a good week to be stuck inside! Watch this space.

It was then time to get this evenings ‘ Roast Chicken ‘ in the oven, resting on a bed of Mixed Vegetable ‘ Trivets’ – I made the ‘ Mixed Herb Stuffing’ and boiled the Potatoes for roasting later, sadly we have no ‘ Goose Fat’ so I’m using the roast juices, the ‘ Second Chef’ was preparing the Broccoli & Cauliflower Florets in the three Cheese sauce, Crushed Baby Carrots & Turnips, Creamed Leeks, Braised Onion & Garden Peas, finally I made my famous ‘ finger-licking’ Pan Gravy’!

“ CORONAVIRUS UPDATE – COVID 19 “

The main news is that the Government have this morning extended the 15 day ‘ LOCKDOWN’ for another 15 days from next Sunday, taking it up to the 12th April - for now!

The ‘ Guardia Civil’ are now stopping all traffic on the motorways ( illegal!)  coming down from Madrid, the ‘ Epi-Centre’ of worst cases of the Virus, as they try to escape down to the ‘ Costas’ to their second homes etc!

Tomorrow I will be out, first thing in the morning, masked & gloved up, as I need to pay the Electricity bill at the local Bank in Calle Mar, then call into the Chemists for one of my prescription tablets.

On Tuesday I’m going down to the ‘ Suma’ supermarket – masked & gloved again, to stock up with the essentials, we are then preparing a list of shopping, for ‘Leah’ to pick up when she is next out & about (Super Sol) – ‘ Big Brian’ is on ‘ stand-by’ - as he’s working from home this week.

“ STAY SAFE AND INSIDE AT ALL TIMES “

Yesterday afternoon we spoke to Sandra & Bill, over in Everett, Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Skype’ video, they are in voluntary ‘lockdown’ after their trip to Florida, they are both well, it was – 10 degs yesterday, on Friday it was 18 degs+ - 28 degs difference over night, which is normal at this time of the year over there! We had a nice ‘ Cheers’ with a glass of chilled Cava, with them also, they are having things delivered to them, including a case of wine, from the ‘Niagara’ wine region!

Last night after supper we settled down to watch a movie “ Film Stars Don’ Die in Liverpool “ -  a biographical romantic drama – about a true story, starring the wonderful Annette Bening & Jamie Bell, in the main roles, with a mega-cast of Julie Waters, Kenneth Cranham, Stephen Graham, Venessa Redgrave & Francis Barber! It’s based on the memoirs of Peter Turner ( Jamie Bell) – which tells of his relationship/romance with the ‘ Academy Award’ –  ‘ Oscar’ winning American actress Gloria Graham ( Annette Bening)  back in the 1970s, in Liverpool, where he was from and still lived, as an actor, working at the ‘ Playhouse Theatre’ in Williamson Square. Watch it with ‘Tissues’ ready!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
